The part that's interesting to me is that lack of self-esteem and self-doubt lived within me for so long prior to the betrayal, that it's possibly what made it easier to accept and be forgiving.

I have indeed been successful with re-forging a platonic friendship. Whether it's understood it's now closer to its expiration than its inception is uncertain.
