For Comms, diversify.....I have boxes of CB's I have 6 Kenwood TS-820S 35 year old FINE radios. NONE are 100% right now, but 3 are 'done' with several 'boards' tested. Still working on the tubes stocks. Always a weak point. }}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} I like CB's. Cheap, abundant, simple to install. I have boxes of them. You can spend a bunch, like the $168 I paid for a new Cobra 148GTL SSB and AM almost 3 years ago. Last time I ventured out for Turbine work. I installed it in my GMC pickup a week ago. I'm a picky SumBitch, took all day..... 4 hours just on antenna mount. I just pulled it today. It will be my 'Pretty' Base radio, being new. The older 148GTL that puts out 18 watts and is not so desirable to steal, will replace it. Enough for now, so it is not deleted with an "AutoBann" for being an AC and a long post! I have begun a "Re-Broadcasting" FM station. Only 15 watts but I cover the nearby town 5 miles away pretty well. Antenna up 25 feet on one of the highest hills around. I make it 20 miles to another town!! I play Hard Rock, Classical this morning! The Micro Effect most of the time. Rammstein for a couple hours this afternoon. The Texas Patriot or "Phatt Man" as some call him. I am usually on 3973Mhz with the "Breakfast Club" in the early hours of the morning. During the afternoons usually on 14.050 listening or chatting with Morse Code. Back to GLP......

Saddened by my loneliness What I see happening in the World as This Civilization Ends. I will work a bit on Comms today. I am switching from Cobra 29LTD Classic for base radio to a Cobra 148GTL SSB and AM The new one I bought almost 3 years ago at the last Turbine job for $168. It will perform well running on my Astron 20 amp power supply and a 5/8 wave "Ground Plane" Base antenna. This is a 19' main element with 4-9' ground 'reflecting' elements. Old but one of the best EVER made. The 18 Watt, not so pretty, Ex truck Driver radio, Will go into the GMC pickup. I also have my eye on a Kenwood TS430S for that truck. An Amateur Radio that will do the same bands the TS-820S radios I have will do. Might finish one of those and get back on the air today. I now have a few 6146 finals tubes. Jerry, my new friend in Springfield, is looking for the 6146W tubes he is sure he has but has not yet found.... These are "Military Grade" and a bit tougher. Have a fun Sunday. Just went out and popped a bullseye at 100 with my 300 Win Mag. A Great Start to a Superior day. "There are No Victims/Only Volunteers" Michael///KD0WSJ

You can,i believe, even use CB equipment to talk the world. Not much respect on that band however!! I have no clue what is involved in getting a "Ham" license in your country. In USA the tests are now easy.....my *% year old Friend Ray Hall, my Mentor and Herbalist Buddy, passed by going to a class and studying for 8 hours...... Morse Code is no longer a requirement. I do Code almost every day when I have a radio up. Code can get through jamming...... There are computer accessories that can read code!! If you can type, you can do code, you machines can make your Morse Code, You can also 'Read' Code with these devices!! I even like using the old "Hand Key", but prefer the 'Automatic Keyers" where you use a 'Paddle' that makes dashes when pushed left, dots to the right. Doing much Code with old style 'hand key' re3quires much more practice and will make your hand hurt if you are not'in shape' or practice often. I also practice using EITHER hand, using BOTH hand key and auto keyer!!
