The Demiurge, I understand to be a Platonic idea, but is commonly used by Gnostic thinkers. Plato's Demiurge is the 'craftsman' who 'crafted' or otherwise created this imperfect world (& universe I guess?) of ours, using a type of cosmic 'clay,' moulded in the image of what Plato described as 'The Perfect Forms' that exist in the.... um.. realm of Perfect Forms, I guess (?!).
Very close to what the bible describes, except the bible says that 'God' created man out of the dust of the earth, mix soily dirt with water & what do you have? Clay!
The Buddhists & enlightenment religions describe this 'realm of perfect forms' as the domain of mind, scientists believe mind to be a by-product of a material brain, enlightenment thinkers & the ancient Greek & Gnostic thinkers agree with the enlightenment religions, that mind is primary & matter is a 'product' of mind (or an illusionary product of mind, scientists are strting to see the 'material' world existing as a holographic 'illusion,' enlightenment thinkers seem to see this illusion like a mirage in the desert, but it is starting to appear more & more like a magicians stage trick type of illusion.
And that magician is most likely to be.....
The Demiurge!!
