What Are The Best Possible Sounding Headphones For 90 Dollars? (Need Some For Music Production)
First, I know what good sound is. I had the expansive AKG 701 headphones for mastering and mixing (about 300 dollars) but I lost them and now I just got a new laptop ( a cheap one with less power) but its ok because I still can produce music (abstract electronic glitch hop beats and stuff)...

So what are really good suonding headphones for about 90 dollars? I can´t spend more at this month...

Who knows clear sounding headphones?

I want a clear sound, a dry fat bass (but not unnatural extreme bass sound) and very clear fine sounding highs...

Sennheiser HD-280 PRO

Very flat response. Not too much bass so your mixes will be consistent on all systems on playback. There are other good choices as well but the HD-280 is also very durable.

I have these as well and agree. They are so flat and neutral that they took a while to acclimate to.

I've been wanting to check out the new Grado SR series, too.

Save more money and get a Sony MDR-CD900ST and then never need to buy another one ever again for mastering and mixing. Super flat and neutral and easy to drive.

Don't get MDR-7506 or V6 they are not in the same league even if they all look very similar. CD900ST is tuned to Sony Music Japan spec and has been the gold standard for 3 decades.

I had a pair of Grado headphones. They sounded great but not as good for mixing. Very good for general listening and it took some getting used to with the open air sound.

They are somewhat delicate so be careful when plugging in devices to your system (powering on/off etc). Try to avoid anything that pops when they are plugged into your interface/headphone amp, etc.). I blew the drivers accidentally when powering on a preamp and they popped.

Always liked those, yeah.

Wouldn't ever try a serious final mix solely in headphones, though...sounds like potential disaster, never mind the
make or brand.

Rock on!

You can do it if you have no reference monitors(speakers), but it is not advised to mix or master in headphones.
I had to mix in them for awhile till I got some Mackie MR8's.

With headphones on you are not getting the atmosphere the sound would normally travel through, so there will be some differences but prob not enough to worry about, I dont know not 100% sure, just info I remem coming across.

Ears get tired quick though, dont mix for too long or too loud, rest your ears.
Sorry not signed in.

Some of my mix and masters:

Yeah, you really need a pair for listening and one for more critical analytical stuff. The Sennheisers are great for the latter.

Good info about the Grados. I was on the verge of getting a pair, when my girlfriend bought me the Sennheisers. I was initially disappointed, but they've really grown on me.

Has anyone heard the new Oppo headphones? Their blu-ray players have sold me for life, and I'm curious now that I see they're branching out into other hardware...
