The success of a prophesy is its FAILURE! (The GLP effect)
Anyone's ability to predict the "future" is only successful if it fails. Irrespective if the prediction is based on spotting trends or some lesser known feature of quantum mechanics or divine intervention (which is likely to be the same thing).

Doesn't matter if you hold to evolution or intelligent (expedient?) design, the driver to improve/manifest prescience would be to avoid disaster and survive, preferably with your tribe and ideally with your ecology mostly intact.

I was pondering this as I'm reading a brilliant exposition of Daniel and what might happen in the end. I've had some subjective experiences that (hopefully) suggest that this worst case scenario has been avoided, by the skin of our teeth!

Religion tards (the ones that worship the shell, loooong after the snail has died) are going to be so disappointed! I'm sure that Daniel would (does?) not see it like that. He saying "blimey! That was too close, should have given more early warning signs detail." (Translated from the Posh Chaldean).

This does leave the prophet without much apparent material profit. Because you're close to indistinguishable from the charlatan. This is a good thing as fame eats time and listening requires quiet time.

The important lesson is to ingrain the habit of listening to God/the universe/your uncle/the tomatoes as the positive news also arrives through the same channel. Small risk high reward things. And the rewards are typically enough, not excess.

True abundance is always having enough with sufficient left to share. Excess inhibits your inclination to listen.

Exactly! But his challenge is even bigger than the Oracle's profit problem. (She want exactly living in a palace was she?)

GLP is inhabited by a fair subset of highly "sensitive" people, some of whom I guess can exert significant influence at some non-mainstream level. And this influence seems to be inversely proportional to their ego in proclaiming it.

So that has a tendancy to FIRMLY place you in the lunatic fringe classification. With a fat slice of rest of GLP. :)

Now let's say Neo did win the war by simply dreaming the whole red pill/Zion bit. And then suddenly, everything improved. Without any externally referencable causal link. That is virtually indistinguishable from schizophrenia (using the urban, not medical definition).

Interesting conundrum isn't it!

If there is a Neo like that in this world, I hope he's the guy at the bar that I suddenly have the urge to buy a beer for.

And I certainly hope he stays away from the neural toxins meds. For all our sakes.
