Not a hoax. A truck struck a utility pole, caused a power surge, and blew out thousands of smart meters in Stockton California. BLEW OUT, AS IN COMPLETELY EXPLODE, not just burn out. The explosions shook homes with homeowners thinking a bomb went off.

Question, would the same have happened with the old style? Also, how is this possible shoukdnt the transformers or something else take the hit? My uncle isn't an electrician but I think he thinks something is wrong here.
