Only three of NOAA's Atlantic tsunami buoys are working.

The asteroid will miss earth by 2.8 million miles. I don't think the drills have anything to do with the approach. I live on the Gulf Coast in Pensacola. Our emergency response teams hold hurricane drills every year.

Tsunami Sirens here are not different from Police/Fire ones, looks very similar, and this can be confusing...

The Drills have to do with the Puerto Rico Trench.

Seismologist have been getting very worried about it the past few months, especially with the current increase in seismic swarms that have been happening recently.

The Puerto Rico Trench is a Subduction Zone just off the north coast of Puerto Rico, where the North American Plate is subducting with the Caribbean Plate.

Seismologists say it has not ruptured with any "major" event in over 200 years and fear it may be over due for something "big". Its last ruptured with an 8.1 in 1787.

It January 2014 it had a 6.4, and again in February 2015 it had a 6.0 but ALL data on that 6.0 has been erased! There are threads here on GLP discussing that data being erased. WHY was that data erased?! What are they hiding?

Some worry that those two were foreshocks to something bigger about to happen; because this is another one of those monsters, similar to what caused the 2004 Indonesian Quake/Tsunmai and the 2011 Japan quake and tsunami.

The Puerto Rico Trench has the potential to rupture with a Mega Thrust Event registering in the 8.5 - 9.0+ range.

This is the REAL tsunami threat to the U.S. East Coast!

It would make Katrina in New Orleans look like a back yard kiddie pool; and slam much of the U.S east coast from south Florida all the way up to Nova Scotia Canada to western UK, Europe and Africa!!

...and some officials at the Puerto Rican Seismic Network worry that its going to happen soon!

The Puerto Rico Trench is also the DEEPEST part of the entire Atlantic Ocean!

Bullshit. I live in a beach city in California and when they test the tsunami siren it sounds nothing like a police or fire truck siren. Its beyond loud, at least 10 x louder than a police car and probably more. Tsunami siren commands your attention, it cannot be ignored.

I am not worried i live inland.. and i am surrounded by mountains. :D

I'm thinking they sound more like tornado sirens? They remind me of air raid sirens. Loud, yes, and they definitely get your attention.

Something tells me there will be a 8.0 or bigger soon ,48 hours.
