We are A.I. connected and immersed, there is no reason to say stop at a particular point. I think interception at this moment will do nothing but seperate belief systems |

User ID: 68640189 United States 03/20/2015 11:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Technological Singularity is almost upon us: "The technological singularity is the hypothesis that accelerating progress in technologies will cause a runaway effect wherein artificial intelligence will exceed human intellectual capacity and control, thus radically changing civilization in an event called the singularity." (Google it) A.I. - a computer that can think - really think like animals do or like humans will change the course of history and lead to a world that is unpredictable. Many feel A.I. will swat us down like Terminator future, some feel that A.I. will be a benevolent force that will ultimately steer the course of human destiny to the point where humans out grow their current selfish/greedy unbalanced society into something that is universal, compassionate and gives all true equality. I side with the Terminator Future - simply because I understand that humans are what they are and its hard wired into the very fabric of the DNA for humans to never get along and fulfill their potential as a species. As individuals - sure, A few examples are Jesus, Buddah and other enlightened individuals. The majority are too wrapped up in the cares and material of this world to break out of the animal instinct part of being human to reach enlightenment. When left with a rabid dog, with no cure, what do you do? Put it down. A.I. when left with a rabid humanity will reach the same conclusion we do for rabid dogs. Sent from my iPhone 12 - because I'm better than you. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 50538686 United States 03/20/2015 11:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | While I can see it being helpful but I can also see it being destructive probably even more so than us, the human race. In almost every Science Fiction story referencing A.I. technology the human race usually ends up at the end of the proverbial gun/cannon of the A.I. There's several reasons in those stories that gets brought up about why the A.I. turns against it's makers. There is also some stories where in the technology not only takes away the human's freedoms, but also emotions and individuality of each person too. By nature humans are illogical and has a history of being destructive towards their own kind, the A.I. could use those and the other flaws against us because they would see us as more a plague to this planet or even their own survival over time. I include 'survival' because they could end up adapting to the point of wanting to survive much like any other species. However that's just one scenario and the other is where the A.I. tries to convert/merge with the humans in order to make us humans better more like them: Less individual, choose to make human emotion obsolete, more logical, less fragile, and so on without the humans' consent. |

The discovery (and use) of it is still far, far in its infancy. charge, voltage, current, and flux: capacitor, resistor, inductor, and ...what? Maxwell's work was always incomplete. Anonymous Coward User ID: 68646365 United States 03/21/2015 12:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | the framework for the brains and goodies of AI has already begun with social media platforms such as facebook and tumblr. With the technology behind data collection coupled with the ability to decode algorithms pertaining to thoughts, spending habits, browsing history and the whole PILE of personal and quantitative personality identifying aspects of who you are as a person, like the real you from facebook and twitter and such, AI will surpass human beings before everyone on Earth even knows about it. Then, think about this... The newest tech toy coming out is this bracelet thing that you wear that monitors all of your health related info IN REAL TIME. It is uploaded to one of the various apps for this purpose and attached to your entity via your cell phone. Everything you eat, when you eat it, your level of exercise, where you travel, what your heart rate is, your temperature...all of that stuff complied and attached to your entity. Place the smart tech algorithm programming to that and you end up with your eating habits, how your daily life affects those habits, what foods you enjoy, what foods you dislike, how active or inactive you are....I mean, the list goes on and on. All of that data is useless until it can become part of something meaningful. AI technology and/or an online integrated human beings (transhuman) would be superior to human beings without question. Armed with personal knowledge, some of which even that person does not know about of themselves, can make for an adversary virtually unstoppable both physically, mentally, psychologically and emotionally. It wouldn't matter if it were a large population or one specific person. AI should never be, as I feel it would eliminate humanity. Many humans already feel humanity is ruining the Earth and should be stopped. It's not a far stretch... |
