Everyone likes to point out the disarray that the nations space program is in, but rarely do you hear anyone argue for the privatization of space flight. America space industry is not in decline, it's shifting focus in a way that better prepares it for the 21st century. It may take a few more years, but eventually the private US space industry will out pace all other programs, especially government funded disasters like nasa and roskosmos. The Russians may still be putting people in orbit but they are using antiquated technology to do it. We are pushing innovation in new directions. Russia's contribution to space flight has been marginalized since long before the collapse of the Soviet Union. The last new tech vehicle the flew was the Buran which (like most soviet inventions) is a blatant rip off of us technology.

The ISS project was a project to create unity and cooperation between the worlds nations, a great idea for a peaceful development of an advanced civilisation.

I guess we have failed, maybe next time....
