She Wolf

"Be still, and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10

Truth needs no validation because it is self-evident and undeniable. Therefore, anything that requires validation to be realized or justified as truth must contain at least some degree of falsehood.

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

I think so, or something along the lines of a sad, traumatic relationship where she was hunted and then betrayed. Most of Sia's songs are very abstract, but I like this one for the haunting melody and the wolf imagery.

Been a favorite video of mine for a while.
How can I be substantial if I do not cast a shadow? I must have a dark side also If I am to be whole.

Pretty much.

Take into consideration:

"you loved me and I froze in time,
(you were/are) hungry for that flesh of mine."

Oh boy does this resonate.

For one, trauma literally freezes people in time(you relive a trauma over and over again when triggered). The flesh part just sounds like some pervert wanted to get into her panties and did and in the end she felt betrayed/traumatized. And imagine being betrayed by sex... after that first time, because it was sexual, then you are triggered whenever anyone is affectionate sexually with you over and over again, wow! And sex is such a huge part of the human experience and life...

"I'm falling to pieces," sounds like being split up(DID/compartmentalized), and more PTSD trauma stuff. And when you're a DID, then you have a very developed and distinct personality(actually two or more pieces or parts of you) that is literally frozen in time.

One key thing in trauma is that the event is broken up into pieces of sight/sound/touch/smell/taste/emotions&thoughts... where each sense is disconnected from the other. You could have a horrible car crash and this could happen. So you might have a visual flashback without audio. Or there can be an audio flashback without visual, and etc. (There are even body flashbacks/memories) Whenever a person is telling a really fucked up story but they are "numb" and not feeling the feelings, that person is still stuck in that trauma and disconnected/in pieces. The pieces remain unconnected... and part of healing is putting the pieces all back together and fully processing the experience.

Yeah, the lyrics sound like trauma-based mind control shit to me, tbh. So many of Sia's songs do, to me... pretty fucked up. But yeah I love her, lol. :)

I agree - PTSD is debilitating. I went through something called Prolonged Exposure at the VA to treat my PTSD and it was like living a nightmare over and over without ever waking up. The idea is that you become desensitized to the trauma, and eventually you do - but it is nothing short of a living hell to get there. Even then, the trauma will always be there, triggered by any number of mundane things you experience every day. Eventually, you have to make the decision to either shut yourself off from the world or start living again - to unfreeze yourself from that experience and dare to move on.

Re: She Wolf
The song seems to me to be about a failed relationship.

Someone chased Sia until they caught her (You hunted me down,
like a wolf, a predator. I felt like a deer in love lights), and it was a passionate relationship (hungry for that flesh of mine). Then the person either cheated or straight up left her for another woman (But I can't compete with the she-wolf, who has brought me to my knees. What do you see in those yellow eyes?)

Soooo that's what I get from the song every time I hear it.

Sia is gd amazing, and tho this song is good -- she has much better. I listen to 1000 Forms of Fear on repeat.
