What was such a strange sight in Lima is pretty common in places with sand on the ground and that are both hot and windy. Lima is not windy at all, but last four days we had 60 km/h winds, my car ended up covered with dust and then it rained, the kind of rain we seldom have, huge drops of rain. I've learned that this dust devils (rarely) cause as much destruction as a tornado. It is being reported that the dust devil on the footage damaged houses and teared roofs.
