Personally, I believe spousal support/alimony should be done away with. If you choose to live your entire life as a brainless, talentless ornament for a douchebag, and said douchebag decides to trade up after a couple of decades, you shouldn't be real shocked. You shouldn't be able to financially rape someone for the duration of their life because your refuse (yep, REFUSE) to handle yourself. Sorry. Why should someone in a dissolving relationship have an expectation of being kept in the lifestyle to which they've become accustomed? Why should you be treated like a wife when you're not? Regardless of who initiated the divorce, we're all autonomous people dudes. This is going to sound really crass, but if you're a lady accustomed to a $6,800 a month food budget out of your husband's wallet, you better stay hot, stay agreeable and give an incomparable blowjob with great regularity. You can get a hooker for A LOT less and she doesn't take you to the cleaners when you're done with each other. |

I'm not saying ALL women, but enough. They have 2-3 or more exes, never worked a day in their lives, collect a shit ton of alimony and live better than their exes COMBINED, all for putting out and looking good for a couple of years. Dudes need to get smarter about their women. |

The same women who campaign against 'entitlement benefits' for the poor will demand a lifetime of alimony for nothing. FFS |
Get out of it.. User ID: 59047628 United States 02/24/2015 07:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There are 2 strategies. Number 1 have your self declared to be suffering from Schizophrenia. and go on SSI. Theres nothing she can do.. Or Plainly state to the court that you will not pay. Be prepared to do some jail time, but eventually the court will free you. Because legally you cannot be charged with contempt. If you continue to state you will not pay.. |

The rich remain rich the poor remain poor. Aren't couples supporting each other mentally and emotionally through their careers too? This doesn't count anymore I guess. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1444339 United States 02/24/2015 07:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Let me tell you how it works, ok. My buddy came home from work one afternoon and caught his wife in bed with his buddy. He divorced, she got everything, house child support, boat, tools in the cellar. He got the pick up truck. Thats how it works. So if you come home and catch your wife in bed with your buddy, pour them both a drink and ask them if you can make them a nice dinner. Welcome to America. |

(OP) User ID: 39480951 United States 02/24/2015 07:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | it takes 10 years minimum to qualify for the free retirement system called alimony :-) I guess if the POS has a good enough attorney, she could convince a judge to award her the free retirement. Its ironic, how many husbands caught in that trap are awarded a lifetime support system after working only 10 years????????????? There is only one entity I am aware of: fed job, but its a diminished pension with only 10 years. SO my next question is this: if the husband cannot get a lifetime pension, then how does the estranged wife get a lifetime alimony? |

This grasp for money just supports the adage that a lot of women are gold-digging tramps, sorry. If I give someone my love and support and shit goes awry, I don't want a goddamn thing from them in exchange for my time and emotions. My love isn't for sale, nor can I be bought off or placated with money. Why the fuck would you want to give someone that much power over you? It's bizarre behavior to me. I'd rather sleep in a cardboard box than take a penny from someone I don't want/doesn't want me. |

They the couple should have made some agreements to begin with as to what the expectations were. If they couldn't keep to it. Of course then one has to lower their life style. However, I think that to just assume only women do this. NOT at all . Men also use and suck women dry constantly, be that dumping their kids on them to look after 24/7 or just living off her after divorce. It happens! |
