Keep up the good work tards. :dascream: Propylene glycol is used as a carrier for many intravenous medicines. Chances are if you've been to the ER or hospitalized they have injected PG directly in to your veins. This study has to do with formaldehyde gas created from the metals in the coils using much higher voltage than an e cig uses. At the normal voltage NO formaldehyde was found+ It's not just propylene glycol in them....but go ahead....keep trying to justify man made chemicals as acceptable over naturally produced products. :capidea: :dascream: rattlesnake venom is natural, and it'll fucking kill you |

You're right. There's Propylene Glycol, Vegetable Glycerin, Nicotine, and flavoring. The flavoring is derived from food flavoring, so whatever that has in it as well. But you could make the liquid from a trip to walgreens and the grocery store. If you wanted flavorless and nic free vape you could just do it from a Walgreens or whatever. In any event ALL the ingredients except the nic are FDA approved for human consumption. Inhalation? That's another story, no one knows precisely. Anonymous Coward User ID: 479466 United States 02/19/2015 10:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I believe there is more tar exposure with the e-cigs. Quoting: KimmieAnnaJones So if it is the tar that causes cancer, then yes it is probably legit. I do find it interesting that many ecigs sites state that there is no tar but I used to be a dental hygienist and saw the staining first hand. That said, maybe they have changed them because that was about 6-8 years ago. there is no tar. you may be getting staining for something, but it's not from tar in an ecig. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 479466 United States 02/19/2015 10:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There is zero tar production from ecigs. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 53456468 If they were invented in America this wouldn't be an issue. Tobacco helped build this nation, going up against them is like battling oil companies. The effects of inhaling PG have been researched for decades and is FDA approved for inhalation. It's the carrier in asthma inhalers, and was used in air ducts as a germicide prior to UV light. It's all propaganda. Believe what you will. |

The most recent study referring to formaldehyde was done as 5 volts. Nobody vapes at 5v. Most batteries being used today run in the 3.3v-3.7v- range Formaldehyde gas is naturally occurring. It happens in greater amounts when metal is heated up(in this case at 5v) it gives it off. speaking on formaldehyde, keep sucking down the decaf coffee if you really want some! |

But the article raises good points about temperature levels. The DNA-40 mod chip along with nickel wire now has temperature control. A first for e-cigs. I have one and am still learning about it before I go full bore into it. Just wanted to bring this up for anyone looking for a way to quit. The technology is obviously still young. The big-tobacco can be suspect at altering the interpretation of any newly discovered information. If you really are interested in this subject, start here: [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] |

It happens in greater amounts when metal is heated up(in this case at 5v) it gives it off. I vape a sub ohm coil at 30 watts. The voltage reading I get from this setup is 4.3V. So you're right, you'd have to be hitting a custom build with crazy power and super low resistance. I'm not arguing vaping is harmless because I have no idea. Too many factor like wick material\liquid\metals,ect. I haven't heard of any horror stories in 3 years I've vaped on any forum dedicated to e-cigs and these forums aren't censored. They have sections for any health problems, ect. One person experienced a collapse lung and there was thread about it. Was it related to vaping? Who knows? But the thread was allowed and encouraged because we all want the most info(even anecdotal) regarding e-cigs and vaping The least of my concerns is formaldehyde. Combustion creates formaldehyde. Burning tobacco will and does create formaldehyde. Anyone who vapes would never vape burnt liquid intentionally. With a mod you have much better control over watts\voltage for different ohm coils. I think mods are much better than the standard batteries because you can tailor your vape to exactly the best voltage\watts for each coil's resistance. I don't know how the extremely high watts affects the vapor but it comes down to extreme heat regarding formaldehyde. Maybe more out gassing of metals? No idea The usual non mod batteries like the Ego-T run at 3.7 volts with many having variable voltage to 4.2v. I could crank my mod up to 6.9v\30watts with this 1.6ohm coil but no sane person would ever do that. I doubt the coil would survive anyway. I doubt it would survive at 5v\15.7w for very long. Anything above 4.3v\11.5w on this 1.6ohm coil begins to taste burnt. Not a very pleasant way to vape. I vape at mid 4.1v @ 10.8w(on this coil 4.1v range is 10.4w-11.1w) thru a 1.6 ohm coil and the vape production is great and the flavor is very good. I also use a tank with adjustable air which dilutes the vape a bit if i wish. If you're over heating your equipment(coil\liquid) you'll run thru coils like crazy and you'll quit vaping because the taste will be absolutely horrible. lol |

Who knows, but anyone that thinks sucking anything down your lungs but air is healthy is lying to themselves. If e-cigs are better than tobacco? I'd say most likely yes, but otoh, the substances used in e-cigs are only classified as ok for human consumption as in digesting it, not inhaling it. And while carbon is harmless to eat (and might even be beneficial in cases of poisoning etc), there are plenty of coal miners that proves that inhaling it is not. So... the jury is still out on the e-cig, while I personally believe it is far less harmful than tobacco, only a fool would think there is no health riscs connected to it. |
