What you did, worked. I had another friend offer to help at the time, and I am sure others silently offered healing. It really was like night and day. And the pain stopping almost perfectly mirrored my father's recovery from his major gut surgery as well.

Personally I would like to save the friendship. I miss it terribly. Some days are worse than others and I find myself wanting to contact them and thinking of little else. Hovering over the 'send' button for unsent PMs that don't get sent.
