One day event. Once a year. Everything is open to inspection.

It makes those with something to hide more comfortable and those with nothing to hide feel as if they do. That's the closest I can translate the saying I'm thinking of. That custom is designed to combat that and force a sense of trust and familiarity with those of your kind. Everyone's blood, so everyone's family. Interesting. Well said. What of the bad apples who spoil it for everyone else? Also dealt with on the fly. Community pressure. Ppl skills. Expectations. Comedy. If a problem arises the community either learns a new way to handle it or finds a new person with the gift of peace to solve the problem. Or old customs and peace mAkers are leaned on and reinforced. Nothing is so serious doors must be locked or the custom broken. It will be handled. Maybe even badly. But in that there is a lesson too.
