Memes Of The Future
If anything like memes still exist and are used 50 years from now, what might they be?

satire of political events?

popular tv shows?

cult movies?

How about a person’s direct physical sensations or perceptions?

I read somewhere that memes of the future might be taken directly from a person’s feelings or perception of things. Taken directly from the mind.

first kiss

thrill of first skydive

riding a motorcycle

<insert feeling to be shared here>

Who would they be shared with?

Would they be a private share only for close friends, or for a bigger audience of general friends and associates?

How would they be transmitted?

Would we have an interface in our heads, or would an interface be made that can access our brians?

hmm

Re: Memes Of The Future
Nobody?

If you could send a meme with your mind and send a personal experience you've had, what would it be?

Re: Memes Of The Future
a great thread.

memes are not much to me - just impressions of a given time, codified in instantly recognizable forms.

but I prefer sentences, and words!

Thank you!

I've always been fascinated by how people communicated with images and short animations to either enhance their text or as a standalone conveyance.

Being able to send your perception of an entire experience (what it felt like, how you felt while it happened, etc.) would take it to a whole other level don't you think?

Constant repetitive themes, supplemented by electronic wizardry. No room for anything other than conformity.

Stimulation to the point of mass distraction.

of course it would.

It would make all consciousness a shared experience, essentially one mind.

might be a lot to handle.

would be mind-boggling.

Perhaps you could have it pre-screened by an AI who knows your preferences and warn you if it contained anything that might be too overwhelming. Or, create a buffer so that it can be processed gradually...

Its the mundane that preoccupies the thoughts of the average person. This limits their intellectual curiosity, and renders them supple vessels for others.

Re: Memes Of The Future
Anyone up for discussing how sending direct experiences from your mind to others would be compared with today's memes?

it would be thought/feeling transference - you would think what I would think, simultaneously.

it is what I believe happens in Heaven.

no need for words, languages, interpreters - the meaning would be instantly understood and felt.

this is also related to the story of the ziggurat of Babel. Humankind has wished for this - easier understanding - for a long time.

as for a filter, yeah, would be needed here. the specter of hacking and mind control would be great.

Whose thoughts would have priority? All cannot be transmitted at once.coffeecup

Re: Memes Of The Future
Sounds interesting.

Wonder if one person's way of experiencing something would be the same for another?
