NBC Brian Williams lied about being in a chopper crash during OIF...

stolen valor..and then his retraction was a lie too..what a piece of shit..but what do you expect from NBC anyway.

Is that what happens when someone posts from their phone? I skip over such posts. I have better things to do with my time than to puzzle over the peckings of a monkey with a keypad.

For being someone that many trusted, this is more than just a lie. He insulted the ones that put their lives on the line and did so for over a decade.

Claims he didn't remember or whatever excuse, claims foggy memory. Not sure about you, but who could forget something like that? That would be a life changing moment.

My memory isn't the greatest, but I damn well remember many life changing moments.

If it were a simple "I had an affair" that has been denied, this is normal SOP for many.

But to lie about being shot down in a war zone, seems to me he wanted his viewers to feel his pain. To suffer just thinking about what he went through.

Then his everyday job, the evening news now being presented by someone in a position to sway peoples opinions.

He should be canned for allowing this to carry on for over a decade.

Saying sorry does nothing, I believe he is sorry, but not for the LIE, but being called out on it, getting caught.

In Jacques Ellul's excellent book, Propaganda, he explains very thoroughly that in the United States, the "free" media is the 'Department of Propaganda'.

Once you have read his book on the workings of propaganda and the necessity of propaganda in maintaining consensus in a technological society in order to keep control, any lingering questions will be answered.

The propaganda meisters do not view stories like the chopper crash as lies, they are just part of the mechanism. It is all totally amoral, and applying ethics or moral judgement to the propaganda mechanism is like applying it to a tractor.

You are living in a wraparound lie if you partake in any of their media reality. It is a world with its own amoral rules.
