Anyone know of a place that might sell ceramic high heat thermal insulation (hard plate)?
Have a project I am doing and I need to reduce heat flow. Been looking at the ceramic fiber, but it may not work as I need the material sandwiched between the heat source and my project. I was looking for 1/8" or 1/4" hard ceramic insulation plate that could be machined etc. that would work, but can't seem to find anything. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Hmmm, thanks. Do you know what the values of the mica shielding are? I still need heat flow but greatly reduced. So, lets say the heat source puts out 1200-1500 degrees, the ceramic buffer needs to only allow a max of lets say 400-500 degrees for my test equipment. Anything greater and it damages the equipment. Thanks.

Some welding blankets can take extreme heat.

Some not so much.

I have a 3'x3'x 1/4" sheet of asbestos board, make me an offer.

Thanks anyways. Trying to get an insulator more mainstream, and without the EPA jumping on me...

Would not work too well for my application... the insulator medium needs to be physically coupled between the heat source and the measuring equipment...

Thanks. On the alumina stuff, I calculated that the heat transmittance is 402 watts or roughly 1374 BTU's... though I'm not sure what that gives me in TEMPERATURE. Basically, trying to see how much the insulation shunts the high temperature from the one side to the other. Thoughts?
