Food is something you just can't wish into existence. Without a major depopulation event, those saying it forever will be correct. :TOMABANEFOX: It's more humane this way ya know, or burn on totem pole. Choice is yours. |

Throw it in a different trash can. Buffet food is giving people the shit's before they throw it out. Who is going to eat that. And who decides who gets what. Can you imagine rationing like during WW2? Today's society would never adjust. |

There is more than enough arable land to feed the world population many times larger than it is now. Problem is people would have to grow their own food and "process" it to keep it cheap and and vast majority are are too lazy. Only a third of those will buckle down and get off their asses even if they are starving. |

Quoting: beeches School cafeterias have 2 categories of foods: "must offers" and "must takes". the must offer foods MUST be offered to the student, who may take them or decline them. This saves waste! the "must takes" cannot be declined. The student must take them whether they intend to eat them or not. and boy do they fill the trash barrels in schools. make all foods voluntary in the lunch line, or better yet, tell the kids to bring from home. My kids attended a private school that could not afford a cafeteria. No waste there. I love you Beeches and right back at you! Liberalism is totalitarianism with a human face – Thomas Sowell |

Some districts have banned letting kids share food.(this is under the guise of protecting from peanut allergies). Some do not permit homebaked treats to be brought in by family of students or by staff for student birthdays. some have free ( my term: taxpayer-funded ) lunch and breakfast. no need to ban there. The kids think anyone who brings in a lunch when they can get it for free is foolish. Last Edited by beeches on 01/28/2015 09:18 PM Liberalism is totalitarianism with a human face – Thomas Sowell |

We're already there. Big Agriculture is the problem. Small, local farms is the solution. Along with taking personal responsibility in growing all you can. Smaller farms manage rainfall far better as a whole. Watch out for the "organic" labels as they have to pay big bucks to appease the USDA labeling requirements. Sadly, as the original post states, the average person won't know what hit them till it's too late. |
