Even with all the GMO crap, the heavy use of growth hormones, steroids, and who knows what, it will be a losing battle. People had better go back to raising their own foods instead of planting flowers and mowing grass.

No way people are going to change their wasteful habits until they have none to waste.

I am thinking of our own gardens, and not wasting food.

School cafeterias have 2 categories of foods:

"must offers" and

"must takes".

the must offer foods MUST be offered to the student, who may take them or decline them.

This saves waste!

the "must takes" cannot be declined. The student must take them whether they intend to eat them or not.

and boy do they fill the trash barrels in schools.

make all foods voluntary in the lunch line, or better yet, tell the kids to bring from home.

My kids attended a private school that could not afford a cafeteria. No waste there.

The amount of food thrown away in this country alone is astronomical. I would venture to say more is thrown away that consumed in America.

There is a ton of filler of all kinds in our food now. Milk for example, is more water than milk.

Smells like a push for more GMO's to me.

There will be up years...and there will be down years / decades.
Depends on many factors.

But there are no downs in population growth. There bees the problem.

The variety of fruits and vegetables available to grow is just staggering. Yet in most any store you'll find so few.

Maybe a peak food scenario can have a positive outcome.

nice in theory, but didn't FLOTUS dictate that kids cant brown bag anymore because no parent is responsible enough to pack what FLOTUS thinks constitutes a "healthy" lunch?

as far as waste goes, how about doing away with the feeding troughs...aka all you can eat buffet places....

now there is waste.

How about instead we just keep the Federal government out of the school systems altogether.
