With an overreaching and immensely powerful federal government, an unrestricted and brutal police force designed to trample citizens' rights to protect that corrupt government, and a benign and pacified citizenry who are indifferent to the corrupt police state they live in as long as their level of comfort is not interfered with, what would our founding fathers think of what has become of their grand experiment of liberty? They warned and expected government to be corrupt. They would be absolutely ashamed and disgusted at us for allowing it to get this way. They would probably leave us to this hell we allowed to be created.

Ehhh... The founding fathers were obsessed with protecting the federal government from coups (that's why they were so opposed to standing armies), and had no problem using military force to collect taxes.

They were all hardcore Christians and lots of them believed in state pensions, employer funded healthcare and free education.

They were far less ideologically monolithic than folks pretend as well.
