Seems today we are ripe with tyrants and too few real patriots. I doubt any of our so called leaders even know the true meaning of patriotism.

Actually had a dream about George Washington. He was the General of an army, American continentals, he and they wore the old uniforms the whole thing. There was a war in the US, all around was modern warfare etc, and than there was the small battered continental army- suffice to say i think he would perceive the current US not the country he founded, and that the remains of what it was is quite under attack. The Americans that followed his command where quite loyal- even though they where not as well equipped to what was out there. This dream occurred in 2007 before I became aware of Ron Paul, found out RP after this dream!

For the record -- it was the REPUBLICANS who got the vote for Blacks and Women.

They would marvel that the US is one of the best places to live; that it is still the land of opportunity; that people are literally dying to get in; that we have one of the best Justice system's in the world; the list goes on. You don't like here? Then GET OUT!

Well, good riddance to the empire. Why should we waste our money and sacrifice our troops for a bunch of hostile, ungrateful foreigners?

But Washington, YOungbrandt, Sarah Hoffmann, and other visionaries agree on one thing: we WIN the Red Dawn war -- after a multi-year occupation, our guerillas defeat the invaders and restore American freedom. Which is all I really want on this earth....

The solution to this mess is not an easy one, and it would have very little support from most Americans who don't want to part from their insulated, comfortable lives. Most people would not want to risk life and limb at the risk of sacrificing their Starbucks fed, comfy lives. They are content to give up their personal liberties as long as they can continue to live comfortably in their ignorance. The truth is that most people would not commit to this cause unless they were tangibly threatened, but for now they don't see that threat as real or legitimate, and the erosion of liberty that goes unchecked in this country is just a defeat of principle to them. It will have to get much, much worse before most Americans would be willing to commit, and by then - it will already be too late. I fear that what this country has become was always the inevitable outcome, that we have become the very thing our forefathers fought against. I can only hope that when the time comes for the American people to take back control of this country, that we have enough true patriots left to make that happen.

On the political side, I think they'd be shocked at how limp-wristed and ineffectual Congress has become over the past generation; ceding more and more of its own powers to the Presidency. I also think they'd be sad to see how the individual states have weakened in comparison to the federal government.

We're pretty much left with the sort of distant, tyrannical, and out-of-control bureaucracy that they violently overthrew since we have neither a Congress or state governments to truly represent us and deal with it.

You have to remember that the original voting rights were granted to land owners. Most people did not own the land they lived on. In that respect the elite set up the original government to best serve themselves. They just took nobility out of the picture.

The bill of rights came from the many abuses of the old British system. Of course the founding fathers didn't foresee the abuse, corruption and problems with the new system. Basically the setup of the government isn't that different than the United Kingdom. I don't think they expected the courts to update what applies.

Speedy trial is a thing of the past. Guilt in many cases is based on how much money you have. Cruel and unjust punishment has a completely different meaning than 200 years ago. People today aren't the least bit embarrassed by their behavior.

Today we have to legislate morality. Ethics means nothing so people get screwed all over until laws and regulations catch up. Corporate responsibility is held to the corporations and not to the directors.

The states used to have a lot of power. They even controlled the budget. The federal government was not intended to dictate everything state governments do. Today, government in many places is the largest employer. States depend on runaway taxes at their own level and at the federal level. States today are dependent on federal money to remain functional.

I doubt the founding fathers ever dreamed banks would run the entire economy. People used to save money but now that is a joke. Most people don't know how to save money. Banks pay almost nothing for deposits making most of their money from investments and credit card debt.

I doubt the founding fathers ever dreamed of slum cites. I doubt they dreamed of cities where people die every day in senseless murders. I doubt they dreamed of supporting those who don't want to work (I don't mean those unable).

Every government that forgot who they served has failed. If you don't care about the people they will eventually begin to fight back. Most people don't know the American revolution was about taxation without representation. It was about the House of Commons refusing to grant seats for the colonies while legislating unfair tax. We are living in a country today not much different than in old Europe where local governments would rob travelers for the right to entire their cities (called city wage tax now). We live in a country that is not bound by reasonable budgets and continue to borrow into extinction.
