Guesses are welcome...... Does it happen when you run water down the drains? Quoting: CHL2T I ask because in my mansion, yes, mansion...lol when I run water in the kitchen and my bathroom, I get serious tapping sounds from the drain lines about four to six feet from the sinks. Strange it is...... Even my plumber is like That's from expansion where there is a hole drilled and the pipe goes through. The pipe expands and get that sound. I've been in the trade all my life. |

Guesses are welcome...... we have very hard water & when my water heater needs to be flushed it makes suctiony/groaning/clunking noises. also could be that the pressure release on the water heater is sticking and you hear pops when the pressure pops through |

Guesses are welcome...... no clue. Quoting: beeches one-story or two-story house? if 2 stories, it could be something in between the floors. how often do you hear it? when you hear it, does it repeat itself? I had a strange sound in the house, almost like a sobbing, moaning sound from the bathroom. I heard it clearly. one story house. around 4 am. A ghost in the toilet?? When I went to get the newspaper hours later, I saw we had a colossal water main break! Water all over the road, fast-moving. another night weeks later - same sound, and this time I looked outside. Water main break. Got so I called the water company emergency number any time I heard the moaning toilet sound. They thought I was insane until they checked - water main break right in my neighborhood. and then they cited me for messing with my water meter! AS IT TURNS OUT, every time there was a water main break in the neighborhood, my pipes had the water sucked out, causing the "moaning" sound. It also caused my water meter to spin backwards, making me have a ridiculously low water usage. Well all was solved. They realized I had not tampered with the water meter. At least the water went out. No ghost. You did ok. :) It is a one story house. I hear it randomly when I go to sleep, maybe a couple of times in a half hour. It doesn't repeat regularly. But I do hear it almost every time I go into the room. Maybe this will help, it is an inexpensive house, cheaply built. Ya, I bought it anyway. |

Guesses are welcome...... lived in this house once for like 12 years. right beneath our bedroom window at exactly every 58 minutes, this beep would go off, like the old casio watches. we did everything to try and find that friggin beep including opening up the wall. never found it. it almost drove us buggy. 12 years, a mysterious beep every 58 minutes, no clue where it came from. i don't have a clue about your suction cup noise but all i can say is i hope you find the answer :) otherwise, this might help... |

Guesses are welcome...... Here are my ideas, something to do with the new roof (and I am not hearing in the right direction). Quoting: WindyMind The house is sinking from all the rain. The new heated cat pad is weird. Leaves stuck on the windows coming off of them. I have no idea. I had a similar "suction cup" sound in my house and it baffled me for a couple months because it was so infrequent. As it turned out it was the refrigerator, where some metal panel buried in it's walls was flexing whenever the refrigerator went through a temperature cycle. In your case, it could also be some metal object either in your heating system or directly near the heating system that is going through a heat distortion and making that sound as the temperature fluctuates. I thought it was the plastic cat door that I had barricaded with a trunk. So, a couple days ago I pulled the trunk away from it a little and I still had the sound. |

Guesses are welcome...... Is the AC Air Handler in a closet on the second floor? If so, you must install a p trap on the drain line, otherwise when the Air Handler turns on, the air is being sucked in through the drain line not allowing the water to flow properly. So one would hear a suction sound in the drain line that most likely has a bit of water in it. That is my thought!(I know from personal experience) Good Luck!! Let go and let God... |

Guesses are welcome...... I hear it mostly in one of the bedrooms. It seems to be low (a foot or 2 from the floor). I heard it once in the kitchen also. Quoting: WindyMind I am kinda worried that something is wrong and I don't know what to look for. I do have a new roof but if it is the shingles why do I hear the sound so low? I can't imagine what it is. I hate to ignore it, in case it's important. Sounds like a dripping noise. Is it easy to hear outside noises through your windows? Most noises are caused from expansion and contraction of water pipes or forced air heating ducts beginning or during and right after operation. Such as domestic hot water line being used or a gas furnace firing up. I have also heard that sound from an empty pop can. It's not easy to hear anything outside my windows, the a/c and furnace are new and I am used to them and I don't like it much but the pipes are in the attic mostly. |
