The body on the picture has been dead for a while, weeks at least - a human body has to decompose to start floating, and that takes a while.

Facts - so far:

So - facts so far as they have been reported...please add/correct.

* The plane vanished at 32.000 feet (app. 10 km)
* No communication after 6:17
* No radar after 6:17 or 6:24
* No signal from CPI (crash position indicator)

After 3 days of search - however not during darkness - they now believe to have found the plane, some 10 km from the position where contact was lost.

Govt confirms debris from
AirAsia

he Transportation Ministry’s acting director general of air transportation, Djoko Murjatmodjo, confirmed on Tuesday that wreckage discovered in Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan, was from AirAsia flight QZ8501.

“It has been confirmed that it is debris from an aircraft bearing red and white colors,” Djoko said, citing that the debris was found by the ministry’s rescue team.

“The recovery process will now be centered in the debris location in coordination with Basarnas [the National Search and Rescue Agency],” he continued.

Number of bodies being found suggests a lot of passengers not strapped in which is not consistent with excessive turbulence. Plus reports of finding life raft which had to have been manually deployed.

Prove it or it's bullshit. That isn't the way patents work.

aHEMagain

ps: and I think you know that.
 Quoting: aHEMagain^2

Try using your brain instead of easily dismissing claims. You can easily look up patents on the internet.

Here is the patent from United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO): [link to www.uspto.gov]

A longer abstract: [link to www.google.com (secure)]
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 65717479

I have used my brain, that is why I know you're full of shit.

Which you would realize if you read your own links.

For example, do you understand what this means on your linked patent?

Inventors: Peidong Wang, Zhijun CHEN, Zhihong CHENG, Li Ying
Original Assignee: Freescale Semiconductor, Inc.

It means that Wang, Chen, Cheng, and Ying invented something while employed at Freescale Semiconductor, so the patent was assigned to Freescale Semiconductor.

So it wouldn't change a thing if Wang, Chen, Cheng or Ying died, because from the moment the patent was created, it was owned by Freescale Semiconductor.

Thanks for the distraction.

What trade and defense secrets! They're patents. It's in the public record!

If they wanted to sell their skills, they could have quit and taken another job. People are still free to do that at the moment.

I'll add that a company having a chip that is used in many products, some of which might be in the defense industry doesn't mean that you're in the defense industry.

im waiting for them to say we found debris but its from the wrong plane lol
 Quoting: lucky43113

They already did that. It turned out to be a small private plane.

These newer reports, and the reports of recovered bodied, sound credible so far.

While tragic for the families, I'll be glad for them if this crash turns out to have a mundane cause. Being left with a mystery like MH370 or AH5017 seems like it would be tougher.

I still expect we will see increasing numbers of anomalous events with aircraft as there are multiple environmental variables that are effecting the airworthiness of both airplanes and air crews.

So it crashed in a heavily trafficked shipping area and flight path in the morning yet no one saw it?

they found debris but no word on the beacon/Transponder, I think not. We don't have to visually see wreckage in this day and age and have a lot be eternaltechnology to find a missing plane.

I'm not saying the body/ies are from any plane or from the missing plane, i'm just agreeing that the pic i saw of the woman looks like a legit floater ie someone who has drowned/died at sea.

From another thread

I was involved with my local VMR (Volunteer marine rescue) for many years and had been deployed to a few search and rescues (off local waters) and have been involved with a recovery operation where bodies were located and recovered and also recreational vessels have sunk and crew overboard that have spent many hours in the water.
That pic looks like a typical bloater/floater and it's not unusual for persons to be rescued almost naked or lost clothing. It would depend on what clothing was worn at the time. Fisherman will almost always remove trousers as it just weighs you down. Also the woman in the pic/vid may have been wearing a dress. Also the plane may have broken up, passengers sucked out etc.
The colour of the body is not unusual either. They do appear pale as the colour drains and the sea water enters the blood stream iirc as it was explained to me. Most times in summer here they are usually pinkish from sun.
I don't know if that is a body from the missing plane so i can't comment on that side of things cause as far as i know it might not be a passenger at all.

Do you mean the narrative that when bodies fall from tens of thousands of feet, the clothes often come off?

I don't any of us here are saying that this is case closed, but so far, nothing is inconsistent with what we would expect from a weather-related catastrophic failure of the airframe at altitude.

It also wouldn't be inconsistent with a shoot-down of the aircraft like MH17, or even a mid-air strike by a meteorite. Highly unlikely, but consistent with what we've seen so far.

If we went for weeks with no sign of the plane, or we found apparent plane wreckage, but no bodies, then we would know we're looking at a more highly anomalous event like MH370 or AH5017.

That's why I will be very curious to see the procedures they use for identifying the bodies, and if the bodies are returned to the families. If they come up with some reason to not return the bodies to the families, that will be a huge red flag for me.

aHEMagain

ps: with seas only around 50 meters deep they should be able to recover a significant percentage of the craft to reconstruct it like they did with TWA 800, if they choose to. Another red flag will be if they claim their are no (or very few) salvageable pieces of wreckage.

The above still stands - and even more questions has arisen.

Radio contact lost 6:17, transponder did not send signal at 6:18 as expected. Flight was cruising at 10 km.

I an instance...total silence ... for days - no communication from plane, crew or passengers. No distress calls, no emergency beacons, no transponder, no cell phones...nothing.

However - they have found the wreckage just about where they lost contact. In a narrow strait close to Java.

No footage from the debris field as for now...they say it is foggy and 2-3 meters high waves....so there is no pictures as their low-tech cameras probably do not work in low attitudes or foggy conditions....

That's funny.

I think it was a fire extinguisher with the airline logo they used to "identify" the "wreckage" of AH5017.

One thing we should see them recovering a lot of is luggage.

No luggage? So stinky.

Re: BREAKING! Air Asia lost contact with Flight QZ8501 over Indonesia!!
Facts - so far:

...
