in all fairness, the cop was the one that setup the camera and made sure everything took place within the cameras field of view...

also people jump into conclutions by just watching a couple minutes of a video... what happened before the camera started, why the cops intervene with the dog, etc etc

I'm ridiculously glad to see this video here. I am deeply involved in rescue/cross posting, transport, etc. I see this at least once a day. Not this vid, others like them. They are not just killing these "vicious" breeds, they are also branding them for rescue only in shelters so that they have less of a chance of getting out. Breed discrimination is running rampant, and it's not just the pibbles... it's the Sheps, the Rotts, the Dobies... any dog that can be considered personal protection. See a pattern?

It hit me the other night when cross posting for the sweetest Shep EVAR and they branded him rescue only or to someone with experience with breeding and/or guard dogs... he had two days to get out.

Our guns. Our dogs. Our protection against THEM.

I'm sure they were ordered to kill it. Many towns don't have an animal control department so the cops have to go bust a cap and toss it in the trash...keep your animals on a leash.

I see a large dog, alone, not contained, not leashed, on public streets.

We do not know the context. We do not know the history. We do not know if this canine has done anything prior.

Dog owners: instead of issuing death threats to human beings, understand that not all your fellow citizens and neighbors love, love, love your non-stop barking defecating hostile beasts.

Contain/leash, train, and supervise your animals. This will lead to better neighborly relations.

But you'd rather just immediately jump to death threats and verbal abuse, wouldn't you?

I wish we had more perspective than just a silent video.

As somebody who almost lost his arm to a dog bite...there is justification in killing a dog to protect a human life!

Had the dog bitten somebody? Did they need to test it for rabies or something? Had the dog KILLED somebody? Where is the owner in all of this? Was this dog just running around a neighborhood and menacing people? What is the rest of the story?!

I won't just pass judgment on the cops...I don't know the whole story!
