Re: G - a curious letter
The "G" in Freemasonry is formed by combining half of a circle (an arc, which is made by the points of the compasses) and half a square (a right angle made by the implement known as the square).

It's the combination of the "heavenly" and the "earthly"...

...just as the number 7 is "perfect" because it combines the "heavenly" number 3 (think: Trinity, which predates Christianity), with the "earthly" number 4 (think: "the four corners of the earth", as espoused in ancient esoteric literature).

Most people think in terms of what word the letter "G" stands for. Sure it can stand for God, or Geometry, or Gnosis, etc. But it's the physical symbol of the capital letter "G" that is important, for in it is contained the most mysterious and wondrous alchemical equation whose sum is what makes us uniquely "human".

Just look at the capital letter "G". It's comprised of two parts: 1) half of a circle, and 2) half of a square. No other letter in any alphabet contains that in a single letter. And each part is made by the working tools of Freemasonry -- the compasses (half circle arc) and the square (right angle).

Re: G - a curious letter
Study the physical structure of the capital letter "G". It's the perfect amalgam of the compasses (the arc or half circle) and the square (the right angle or half a square). It represents the two aspects of Man -- the spiritual and the physical.

And it also happens to be the 7th letter in the alphabet.
