Because my parents lied to me about Santa Claus, because they lied to me about the tooth fairy, I began to doubt anything adults told me. I began as a child to become suspicious of adult motives and not believe anything out of their mouths. It began the development of my mind which does not want to accept on face value things that are said; I want proof - I'm a skeptic.

Also, does anyone not see the resemblance between Uncle Sam and Santa Claus? Uncle Sam is Santa on a diet; in true political fashion, he gives to the rich and nothing for the poor!

The myth has become capitalistic propaganda (although Santa MAY be a commie because of his red suit and not charging for his presents) to sell crap. Any
value to it has diminished.

Time to stop lying to kids, or a whole new generation of skeptics will be raised.

Skepticism is good

I know plenty of terrible parents who would milk this just to hurt their kid as much as posible. I know someone who's last name was Bates, so they named their son Master. That it just the tip of how much of prick they really are.

This actually happened with my younger brother....

My parents didn't DO the Santa thing, but, of course, all the kids at school were talking about Santa Clause and what he was going to bring them.

So my brother says "Is Santa coming to our house?" and without thinking my Dad says "No."

Without missing a beat my brother asks "Why not?" and my Dad, thinking he was being hilarious says "because you were bad."

Well needless to say my brother bawled his little eyes out, and would NOT believe it when Dad said there was no such thing as Santa because he'd already been told he was bad. Finally my parents had to start putting out Santa presents every year to appease my brother.

It never even dawned on me that some kids might presume that Santa was stingier with them then with the rich kids because they weren't as good, but honestly, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU LIE TO YOUR CHILDREN.

If I had kids I might do stockings and presents under the tree, but I would never tell them a mysterious man was breaking into our house each night. It's just leads to mistrust IMHO.

Chibbers, there was a thread last year, too tired to search it right now,

about a kindergarten or preschool teacher who took it upon herself to tell the kids ( they were 5, so it must have been kindergarten )

that there is NO SANTA.

the kids went home and told their parents.

lots and lots and lots of flack for that bit of overreach.
I hope that person is not around kids right now.

Why don't Groids have a story about a Jolly old guy, who wants kids to be good, and gives presents away?

I guess they live closer to reality than White Morans.

My wife had a good question. What about the kids who get coal, How will they even face their friends. I got coal once, same year the step mom got a fridge with a lock on the door, good times good times...




Or worse the discrepancies in tooth fairy payments, one kid gets a quarter the other a new twenty dollar bill. That is so not fair! Maybe tooth fairy money should be taxable and redistributed. I can hear the cries now, equal pay for equal teeth!

Just watched the movie again, fixing my statement.

I went to school with the kid who was on Santa's lap just before the star went up and got the boot in the face.

These kids will grow older and look back on this incident and will want to thank this teacher someday.

Aw hell. Next thing you know the government will take over operations at the North Pole and we will be required to donate four $30 gifts so they can start redistribution of Christmas Presents.

But...no toy guns, no toy weapons, Only transvestite Barbie and GI Homo-Joe. Maybe a doll with removable genitals so the kids can learn how sex change operations work, or hell, sex toys to go with some of this crazy shit they are letting Planned Parenthood teach in some places.
