Thew women's vote was a ruse. What it really did was give the poor the vote. So now pols had a block of voters that would vote for them if they took from the producers. Since most people are not producers it is easy to take from those that work.

So now we have a slave system that eventually breaks down because less and less people see a reason to produce anything at all.
