In Matthew 10:28 Jesus warns of the soul being destroyed--NOT tortured. Ecclesiastes 9:5,6,10 says that dead ones are not conscious at all. Revelations 20:14 says that both death and hades are thrown into the lake of fire--meaning destroyed forever (makes no sense torturing death and hades right?) Harmonizing these scriptures, Jesus was just warning people that their hope of resurrection could be in jeopardy.
