"The Little Bug-out-Bag That Could" Serious Look at "Being Ready" on 73rd Anniversary of Pearl Harbor. Video
If you think this thread deserves better than a
ONE star, please remember to vote at the top of the
menu! Thanks! hf

NOTE: The laptop I am using to compose this thread does
not appear to be compatible with GLP's wordprocessor
--so the margins aren't consistent. Working on this
problem, sorry if it is distracting!

:TrainThatCould:

This is actually a serious thread, tho the title refers to a famous child's story about a little Engine..."That Could" called upon to stretch his strength and intelligence to the max to help his friends in an EMERGENCY.

On the 73rd anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor 12-07-1941...an event that for most Americans came "out-of-the-blue," our looking at Being READY for a sudden emergency seems appropriate! So...I am assuming that you have at least a backpack near your front door ready to "bug-out" (with supplies) at a moment's notice?

The point of the thread is: "...Great! You have invested
in the supplies and the emergency items (compass, extra
eye glasses and meds, credit cards/cash, foil blanket,
first-aide kit, candles and flashlights, energy bars for
sugar lows...etc.) for a "Bug-Out-Bag....And you
BELIEVE you are ready....That's terrific!"

But...Here is a sobering thought: Do you realize your placing TOTAL confidence in your little bug-out-bag may actually contribute to your being seriously injured or actually losing your life--and possibly the lives of your family--in a SERIOUS emergency?
You ask...."What could go WRONG?" I'll show you!

Check out the :30 sec. mark on this video. They must have
TEN "bug-out-bags" on top of their car...but WHAT really
is the issue here? It's LOCATION. They're caught up in a
huge traffic jam (we've seen this in FL and GA with their
evacuation problems) and have put themselves in harm's way
thinking the car and bug-out-bag is their ticket. Truth is
they should NEVER have been this close to the ocean!

Been hosting this thread for a few days where we have
been discussing any number of emergencies, not the least
of which is an asteroid fly-by to our moon this afternoon
around 3:00 PM EST (uh oh!) Several people last night on GLP
noticed an "unusual halo" around the moon. WHAT IF
AN ASTEROID HIT THE BACKSIDE OF THE MOON? That "halo"
could be a debris field expelled into space--(but, of course it is not!) THAT is the level of emergency, tho
that we should be thinking about. Check this out:
[link to www.godlikeproductions.com]

First, though, watch this "public service message" from
your government at "ReadyDot.gov" telling YOU "...Having a PLAN and...MAKING A 'KIT' (bug-out-bag). It's creepy!

[link to www.youtube.com (secure)]
FairUSE (Education/discussion)

Right at the end of the clip, you see the father of this family of 4 individuals grab a bag, the size of a large gym-bag and pull it over his shoulder. (It must NOT have much stuff in it, since he easily swings it in the air over his shoulder....and THOSE are the supplies to assist 4 people in a serious emergency?) Probably would have been a
better "example" to have each person with their OWN bug
-out-bag! Just the weight of 1 gallon of water per person
per day is going to require more than ONE bug-out bag!

:bugbugbg:

You might say: "Well...those public-service announcements
like that "upside-down world" clip means that the
government really does care about my safety!...I didn't
have a "bug-out-bag" before I watched that--and I feel
good about "being PREPARED for emergencies!" I would
almost say I'm relaxed about ANY eventuality!

Truth is...We are entering a NEW chapter where it is going to be critical for you as the head of your household to really examine your options in the case of a serious emergency in your AREA. Listen to what Jay Barbaree explains is the "Orion Mission" which was just launched this week. As he describes it "Orion" is humanity's ONLY hope to avoid extinction on planet earth! Is he trying to tell us something? You bet he is!!

While Jay is talking about "escaping Earth before an
extinction-level event"...you can translate this as a
general heads-up for where you stand ON EARTH.
He's really saying (between the words):
LOCATION!....LOCATION!....LOCATION!

[link to www.youtube.com (secure)]
FairUSE (Education/discussion)

A LOCAL "EMERGENCY" (like the gas company closing your street
because of a "gas-leak risk")--MAY BE "covered"

by a "ReadyDOT.Gov" "bug-out-bag" (the size they show
in the video.) You'll be out of your "comfort zone" for a
few hours...could almost be a little excitement for the
"fam." But, read-between-the-words on the message that
Jay Barbree was saying with that video and you will see
he is actually warning that an asteroid thread to the
planet is now very REAL. If one of those puppies hits the
Atlantic or Pacific ocean, your "safe place" at the beach
is going to be in deep trouble from a tsunami!

...BUT WHAT ABOUT AT THIS LEVEL?

WAslide
2013 WA state sudden mudslide killing 100.

Or THIS:

:Pile2deeper:
Sudden "snow-mageddon" 2014 that trapped 1,000s
--some without electricity--for days!

:BigAsNiagra:
Or this current emergency with a "sinkhole" under the foot of a huge dam the height of Niagra Falls near Knoxville, Tn. 7 nuke plants are downstream!

That screen-shot of Washington State's 1-mile-wide "mud
-slide" event in 2013 shows the disaster hitting 100 human lives in a SUDDEN EVENT is a good example about how 100 people (some no doubt had "bug-out-bags") were lulled into a sense of "false-safety." Their gov't officials didn't bother to warn them that the clear-cut mountain directly above their homes was saturated with rain water! These guys didn't even have time to make it to their front door...let alone to grab their "bug-out-bag!"

The "uncomfortable truth" Readydot.Gov is NOT telling us is...
In the majority of cases for the citizens of the U.S.A.
--and for the planet, for that matter,--You don't need to "Make a Plan...Get a kit."
...YOU NEED TO PHYSICALLY MOVE OUT OF HARMS WAY!

Just take a moment to make a TRUE assessment NOW for
WHERE on planet Earth you are standing at this moment!

***Are you living long a coastline of East or West
Coast--say within 200 miles?
***Are you living along a large fault zone, such as the
"New Madrid" or the "Cascadia Subduction Zone?" What
about downstream from a large dam or an operating
nuclear plant?
***Do you live close to--or even directly under--an
extinct volcano? (Remember how surprised we all were
when Mt. St. Helen erupted in 1980?...I was there!)

How exactly do you think that "bug-out-bag-that-could" is going to stretch its resources to handle something like an 8.0 pt. quake or a category 5 hurricane (like Katrina?)

All we need do is take an example of world news for any given day--here is one! Just today 12-07-2014 S.O. reports 2 very large quakes and a "super-typhoon" heading for the Philipines. A "bug-out-bag" is NOT going to cover this level of emergency, yet many people are comforted by the idea that this little backpack or gym bag with a few supplies is going to make a difference. They throw it over their shoulders and BLINDLY walk out into a life or death situation thinking they have what they need.

Watch Suspicious Observer's 4 min. news for 12-07-2014:

[link to www.youtube.com (secure)]
Of course, there is no where to "move out of harm's way" when an asteroid hits, but don't let yourself be fooled by ReadyDot.gov instructions that a bug-out-bag is going to cover ANY emergency situation. Fact is, once you are out of your home and in your car with that "bug-out-bag" you are going to be on your own. In truth, it's YOUR LOCATION you
need to be concerned about, NOT the emergency kit!

To OC...It means...evaluate your current location with regard to POTENTIAL "natural disasters" in your area right now...NOW! If there is a potential for something to go "wrong" that's life-threatening and you can identify it NOW--get moving!

MOVE AWAY FROM FAULT LINES....MOVE INLAND FROM COASTLINES. AVOID areas like "tornado alley" and flood-prone low lands. (And be sure that your new location is at least 300 feet above sea-level.) DON'T WAIT! GET GOING!
Somebody's GOT to step up and say something about this! We can already see that big cities are NOT safe because of civil unrest. Just imagine these areas when they are stressed like "the Little Engine that Could" to handle a huge emergency! We need to stop hugging our bug-out-bags and look at the REAL ISSUES about the safety of our families. Do we live in a safe area?..If we DO NOT...WHAT are we going to do about it? (I moved from Detroit to the Pacific Northwest--and I'm sure you would agree it was a really smart decision.) But we gave up a lot and our lifestyle is vastly different than it was. We have a "bug-out-bag."

What would your "Readydot.Gov" video look like if you
REALLY embraced that the "Orion" launch is actually
warning us of an asteriod impact scenario? If NASA does
have solid evidence of impact risk right now, doesn't
the "public service message" you and your family are
watching on TV deserve a bit of an UP-TICK in alert
than just a "little-bug-out-bag-that-doesn't (work)?"

My "ReadyDot.gov" message would contain something like this:

:PalinLogic:
"Move IN (as "inland")....move UP (as in elevation.)
...But..move SMART...(as in prepare!)
That's my motto! lol!

Just sayin!

Happy about our location, but constantly reviewing our BOBs or grab bags.
Don't forgrt they always need updating, especially food items and water. I am checking all the 'use before' dates on our first aid kits at the moment.

Do you prepare just for you and your immediate family? What happens if you have a house full of guests when Tshtf?

***Still having trouble with the wordprocessing program--
sorry about the margins!
lol! O.K. Matt!

We considered the RV--moveable home--idea for the above
mentioned problems with the Pacific NW, of course.
The trouble with the R.V. route is the fuel issue.
If you are in an R.V. and TSHTF...there is going to
probably be marshal law and movements will be
restricted. You will find yourself mid
-location between where you were and where you
intend to go. THAT could be worse than your original
location you deemed unsafe! (There's a catch-22
isn't it....)

SO....If you are really AWARE that your location
is not where you want to be--you need to research
CAREFULLY where you will "shelter-in-place" and BE
THERE BEFORE TSHTF. For most of us, that means time
is very short and action needs to be taken ASAP.
Being that our winter is going to be very bad this
year, you are probably going to need to plan your
"move" in the coming spring or summer.
This is especially true if you have little kids
--schools will be an issue, as well as EXTRA safe
planning for them.

It also means you are going to have to take
extreme measures to save as much cash as you can to
make any serious move. You are going to be "out of your
comfort zone" as you save up for a relocation...but
it can be done! Think of it as a "challenge" you are
giving YOURSELF. Identify some skill you can market
in your new location--don't just "hope for the best"
if you need to be employed.
Most of all--prepare spiritually because its a tough-go
if you don't have FAITH as well as common sense
in your efforts! OTHERS have done this and succeeded!

Of course, some of this is true. But there are places...
You need to research, not just pull stuff out of your
memory. We made some vacations to areas that we were
considering--of course, you can't do that if you are in
the middle of some geologic or political disaster...
this all needs to be done carefully. Many of our great
grandparents came here from other countries with just a
small savings and a marketable job skill. If they could

Like all prepared Americans, I can move my home within 30 minutes from a completely naked state.

lol! O.K. Matt!

We considered the RV--moveable home--idea for the above
mentioned problems with the Pacific NW, of course.
The trouble with the R.V. route is the fuel issue.

I bug out with all my shit.

And if American home owners don't get their RV spot and their wilderness on before the gov't shuts down, you're done.

Govt shutdown = Federalized forest cops, aka JUDGE DREDD OF TEH FOREST

Shuts down all Federal campgrounds, all Fed lands policed, so that's like 98% of America right?

My advice: Get ye to good neighbors and make friends of them, and good means low-impact low-drama Am,ericans who are 2nd amendment defenders and can mend fences, raise chickens and fight for the right for root cellars, etc.

PNW has its problems.

fault line due for huge EQ

short growing season

areas close to ocean are green

over the mountains further inland, desert

mountains that may erupt (heck Portland is on a volcano Mt Tabor)

the desert has very very harsh weather, gets extremely hot and extremely cold

cities like Portland grow and grow, population density goes up

in WA, Olympic Peninsula is low altitude

That's right. Better you go on to Montana or N California.

How to make friends of neighbors once you're bugged out

1: have your plan and a means to work it
2: have own tools
3: dont get yr shit stolen
4: DON'T STEAL we all hate that
5: Mend the fence between you and your neighbor
6: Watch yur neighbor's stuff, see rule # 3 and 4 when they're away
7: be ready to jump/tow stranded vhicles
8: Be fucking cheerful god damn it.
9: respect the flag and veterans and retirees and the old and the young
10: Be regular and moderate in your habits, a good reliable person.
