A number of years ago, shops selling Golly dolls were violently attacked by mainly white people who believed the black doll was 'inherently vile and racist'.

It's now illegal to display a Golly publicly.

Couple of years ago a woman was arrested and given a community service for placing her Golly doll in her bedroom window.
