Re: American mother murdered by burqa-wearing woman
A murder investigation has been launched after an American mother was stabbed to death during a clash with a burqa-clad woman in shopping mall toilets. The 37-year-old kindergarten teacher, who has 11-year-old twin boys, was stabbed with a knife in the altercation. She later died from her injuries.

I see you found this on a foreign site? Something like this would never make our news unless of course, the bag of garbage was attacked by the American woman...
 Quoting: davvi

USA Today is reporting it, but the suspect is wearing "a black robe," not a burqa, so the killer can't possibly be a radical Muslim...(ARGH!)

The victim:
"I wanted to experience the Arab world and experience their culture and daily life," Ryan wrote in a section that asked what made her teaching abroad experience unique. "I am working in a very traditional neighborhood and it is very unique to learn and understand their culture."
[link to www.usatoday.com]
 Quoting: nutmeg

OMG..."traditional neighborhood" translates into radical Islamic neighborhoods where westerners are NOT welcome. There have been calls for attacks against western teachers working at American schools in these "traditional neighborhoods."

Let NO good deed go unpunished.

Yes, this would never make it into the massively controlled USA news machine. Shame that we are not provided with real news, but carefully controlled pablum.

We will hear about this incident if the perpetrator turns out to be a white Christian male...otherwise zip, zero, nada in our media...

What ever that was, it had a masculine gait. Also it talks to two security guards and retrieves something from the bin. This was planned. The dead woman had connections or knowledge of something and was snuffed out by someone farther up the food chain.

Are burqas approved in Britain, Germany, and other western and European countries? It seems like you could hide an RPG, suitcase nuke, or bomb vest under one of those.

Completely charged headline to promote racism yet again!

The stupidity of whites really amazes me sometimes.

I am better educated than you, have a higher paying job than 85% of whites and my children will all be going to private school so they can be the masters of your children.

You should do well not to anger us. One day, you will depend entirely on our intellect and kindness.

America is now supposed to allow woman to walk around in public in trash bags

because Muslim men are such that they cannot control themselves if they see an inch of woman's flesh?!

Really?

Really??

Here?!

So we've got women in trash bags not allowed to see sunlight

alongside American porn??

Really?

It was wearing gloves... which tells me that they were trying to hide their finger prints.

This sounds like a hit. They won't ever be found because of that burka and gloves.

Abu Dhabi? Well, I'm glad I didn't move there earlier this year like I had the chance to…
 Quoting: {Epona}

One incident like this would keep you from moving? Chances are, you would never meet the same fate. It will be interesting to see if there is more to the story. This woman might have been followed and was a target.

I just found this (below). Violent crime is rare there, however.....

"The US Embassy in Abu Dhabi issued a warning on Oct. 29 to U.S. citizens about an anonymous web posting that urged attacks against American teachers, but noted no specific threats."
[link to abcnews.go.com]
 Quoting: nutmeg

Nah, I was never concerned about my safety out there. The thing that stopped us moving was that my eldest had just been accepted to college here in the UK and I didn't want to either leave her behind or disrupt her education. There was also my husband's love of bacon and beer. Apparently he really can't live without bacon and with reduced beer intake for a year or two. I really wanted to go, just for the experience of living out there and the chance to work with some of the best Arabian horses in the world.
 Quoting: {Epona}

It's good you didn't go. I understand the interest in another culture and wanting to experience but it's cold and unfriendly and the only people that even look at you are the men and it is positively menacing. It's filled with workers from SE Asia - who are treated so badly.

I went in the front entrance of a restaurant for a meal, and was told by the waiter that as a female I should have come through the back entrance and was moved to a different table. Seriously.

But yeah to work with Arabian horses would have been something. Although just not worth it.
 Quoting: Sloane

My mother remembers when she could only go into a bar with a male escort.. She and my father or uncle had to go in the ladies side entrance, and must sit at a table. No women at the bar. No women bartenders. This was the swinging sixties in the American midwest. I am not so sure bars weren't better then than they are now with women cawing and screeching at the bar.

In truck stops throughout the midwest Ive seen signs saying only professional drivers may sit at the counter. I got some dirty looks too, just stretching my legs...until I settled at a table and asked the waiter to fill my water bottles. When he realised i was just traveling and not a dirty old woman trying to hit on tired old truck drivers everyone was real nice to me. Its safer to travel in a convoy. You lfigure they know where to stop. You see the same faces in the bathroom mirror and over a cup of coffee and feel if you broke down theyd recognise you and call it in and keep the back of the train looking out for you until help came. They are good people. And I can see why they dont want their places overrun with locals or with hookers or hitchikers.

So I guess I dont see the grave insult in there being separate seating and entrances for women. I remember too when only women in hats and gloves lunched in the tearooms at the top of downtown department stores. The atmosphere would have been ruined by men smoking cigars. So why must we ruin their atmosphere?

Western culture is getting awfully fussy.

When we were at the Mall of America back in October I saw a lot of covered women.......only 2 in a full burqa.

I felt sorry for all of them because it was so warm in there.

Re: American mother murdered by burqa-wearing woman
We need to ban the burka. Besides anything else it is unhealthy .

here they try and wear it in court so they cannot be recognised even if they do not always wear it outside.

Would you want to have your children taught by a burka?

Also they use it as a psychological weapon.

This is the last straw.

It is not even part of their religion......

We do not let hoodies anymore...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 65152835

France has already banned it. We should be doing the same.

You can't wear a helmet in a post office, a bank or going round the District and Circle line for "security" reasons yet you can wear a burqa.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 65715136

We should ALL wear burqas. It'd be comfortable and cheaper than buying clothes.

So when law enforcement gets frustrated because they can't identify any of us, they'll be quick to ban the burqa for everyone.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30763027

And if they can't ban it, they will promote self expression in every meaningless way possible and will create a culture where people even tattoo themselves.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1567001

Agree on the benefits of traditional culture. We men weren't oppressing anyone. But we all expected there would be some men's spaces and some women's spaces. And it's my impression that women were more welcome occasionally among the men than vice versa. Now you women have given that up.

I wasn't in Abu Dhabi recently, but I was in Dubai about 20 years ago, shortly before the construction megaboom started. I didn't find it cold at all, but warm and relaxed, even to this non-Muslim. There was a cold reaction if I got too close to a Mosque, but if I stayed in secular spaces, there were many fine guys to talk to.

Might be harder for women, but women ranged from wearing a simple headscarf to the full hijab with only eyes showing thru a slit. I do imagine it would be harder for women to meet one another casually especially if it's hard to recognize your friends among the hijabs, but I don't know that. It was a place where men are in the main role of leadership and risk-taking. Some people like that. I don't see many Muslim women objecting even when given the opportunity. However women raised in the West have been told it's terrible oppression. Whatever, their opinions are not my responsibility.
