Quoting: Chibs I haven't seen this much rain in a few years. Obviously we still need a lot more, but this is a great start. Good news! Rain just drains straight out to the ocean. California needs snowpack which these storms are not producing. Warn winters spells doom for California |

California needs snowpack which these storms are not producing. Warn winters spells doom for California More snow would be nice, but we technically havent even hit Winter yet. So there's still plenty of time. Plus, I don't know if it will be a warm Winter, for the past few weeks, every night has been getting below freezing. Or just about, and as I said, we havent even hit winter yet. I live in central CA, and enjoy the rain very much. Someone else posted that the rain just drains into the ocean but this is not true. Some of the rain does make it back into the ocean, but quite a bit flows into creeks and rivers which feed the reservoirs. We need more storms like this,...slow and steady,....and lots of snow of course. |

In order to fix the problem you would need the weather to turn largely rainy for the next 10 years to refill the reservoirs alone. It took 8 years to fill up Hoover dam and Lake Meade in the 1940's and there were much less people using it then as well. ...and forget the underground aquifers....they take 1000's of years to refill. Basically you are screwed. |

We got nothing and now the clouds are breaking ( and the contrails returning to sop up what ever moisture remains) Quoting: IGNOMEN That sucks... I did hear the clouds would break up and we would have a bit of sun this afternoon. Basically you are screwed. No, that is total BS. In winter of '77/'78 we were in the third year of drought here in no. California. We were told it would take years to refill Folsom Lake as you could walk across both the south fork and north fork of the American Rivers which feed it. Three weeks into record setting rainfall the lake had all 10 of its gates open discharging water at 10K cubic feet per second. |

Mickeyblue User ID: 9806228 United States 12/01/2014 01:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A primary difference today over the past is the toys we have to both create this by holding back our normal weather patterns via the shifting of the jet stream north, sending it up into Canada to achieve the polar effects you have been witness to and blocking our offshore incursions or changing that and allowing for these to come ashore and bring rain and snow. One suggestion to this has been that 'they' have done this to address the radiations issues emanating out of Japan. That said, before that ever occurred we suffered this same phenomena. We deal with geo-engineering, political and other issues which controls outside of 'mother nature' what we see as weather. |

"God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787 |
