If you get a license can you buy any type of gun including high powered auto or semi autos?

in most most states, for most guns, there is no requirement for a license.

in some states, the fucked up ones like New York, California, Massachutsetts, and New Jersey, you can't have "assault rifles" and there is red tape (or bans) on semiautomatic handguns.

some cities such as Washington DC, New York City, and Chicago, have decided that while the Constitution of the United States, and their State Constitution, guarantees the rest of their state to have certain types of guns, the residents in their particular city cannot.

some states allow full auto. with an NFA tax paid and paperwork processed. other states don't allow it. anyway to get a full auto firearm you pay out the nose, thousands of dollars, because there has been a ban on the manufacture or importation of them for the last 30 years. otherwise there would be full auto AR15s on the shelf right next to the semiauto's and would cost as much. which is not much. it was like that until 30 years ago.

almost all states you can now carry a concealed handgun, with a permit. I think there is one state left where you can't, Illinois.

that's how it is in the U.S.

but all those laws are all in violation of the Constitutional Right that guarantees our right to have a gun in the first place.

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
 Quoting:

let me inform you that our Second Amendment, or any Amendments in our Bill of Rights, or even our Constitution, do not grant rights, but specifically enumerate them to avoid deprecation (such as the laws above). our rights are considered "God-given" and naturally part of a human being. they were not "given" to us by the government, and we have those rights irregardless of whatever the fuck the government says. that's what Constitution we have created and based our government on, the one that proceeds to make laws saying we can't have certain types of guns because the are too much gun.

if you want some legal verbage to that effect, here is a statement:

"The right to bear arms is not granted by the Constitution; neither is it in any manner dependent upon that instrument for its existence."

United States vs. Cruikshank, 1876, the Supreme Court.

If you click on a state in the above link it will give you a breakdown of the requirements to possess a long gun or pistol, carrying abilities whether concealed or not, and whether you need a license for any action. This is a good compiling of information.

I am a Texas concealed carry holder and I always check this website before I travel to see what states reciprocate my license, as well as let my Texas Law Shield attorneys know i'll be traveling out of state.

Second question:

Do you think if everybody had to have a gun license this would make a difference?

This would mean the police could remove guns from unsuitable people.

Or they could never get a gun license in the first place.

I realize criminals always find a way to get guns. Even here they get guns they are not legally allowed. Ones that are not even allowed in the country but somehow end up here.

The police raid these types of people's premises and they confiscate their guns and put them up on firearms charges just for possessing them.

You might think this wouldn't work but in general gun crime here is pretty low.
 Quoting: Lamplite

Not a bit, criminals will still get their hands on guns, no matter what.

Limiting people right to bear arms isn't the answer.
