Nature does actually create squares. Its a common misconception. Go look at some pyrite even.

I have some iron pyrite that's in the form of a perfect square cube. Nature has form perfect cubes. Don't know if mars has iron pyrite but it has a lot of iron oxide which gives it the red color to the planet.
