User ID: 64498703 United States 11/02/2014 06:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Dr. Phillip Smith says ebola kills by dehydration, not hemorage.....on NPR I was listening to NPR about 15-20 min ago, and they were interviewing Dr. Phillip Smith who is the Medical Director at the Biocontainment Center in Nebraska. He was asked why the death rate is so low in America vs Africa and Dr. Smith replied that [paraprashing, was driving and couldn't write down word for word] "we are able to monitor their fluid levels, electrolytes things like that. When people get ebola their organs are damaged due to dehydration and we can combat that with treatments such as IV fluids. This will be the lesson for Africa". This was on 90.1 our local NPR station (eastern VA). Dr. Smith was also talking about how he has been ostracized at work; and the daughter of one of his employees was uninvited to a birthday party due to them working with ebola. 😢 He also mentioned (briefly) that NY ebola dr's status is now stable. I thought the organ damage was caused by everything in your body bleeding out.....but I guess a banana bag can cure that now..... Last Edited by Ziggyspaz86 on 11/02/2014 07:01 PM |

I have not heard that being said lately either. |

The traditional symptoms include huge blood blisters from the slightest pressure that leave massive visible scarring, and the bleeding organs have to leave some irreprebile damage, especially to GI tract, kidneys and liver. I believe that something is killing thousands of people in Africa and soon to be America, but I'm not so sure it's "traditional" ebola. |

I totally agree, I thought that when it "got out of the bush". Seems like it always just burnt itself out and was done. Or before they would go into the "ground zero" village and stop it by exterminating the people carrying it so it couldn't make it out. |
