The Celtic lands have Samhain

Samhain (pronounced /ˈsɑːwɪn/ SAH-win or /ˈsaʊ.ɪn/ SOW-in[1] Irish pronunciation: [sˠaunʲ]) is a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter or the "darker half" of the year. It is celebrated from sunset on 31 October to sunset on 1 November, or about halfway between the autumn equinox and the winter solstice. It is one of the four Gaelic seasonal festivals, along with Imbolc, Beltane and Lughnasadh. Historically, it was widely observed throughout Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man. Kindred festivals were held at the same time of year in other Celtic lands; for example the Brythonic Calan Gaeaf (in Wales), Kalan Gwav (in Cornwall), and Kalan Goañv (in Brittany).

Well, somehow that's one of the original popular expressions of the Dead's celebration.

Curiously, around St.Martin's was traditional the pork's sacrifice in the farms & homes, the great fun for all the family (!!!).

In Spain the traditional cultural event was to assist at the theater to watch "Don Juan Tenorio" by Zorrilla, the Romantic versión of the ole Don Juan/Don Giovanni story, with its ghosts, and walking Stone statues and the fire of hell for the sinners!... Actually the orthodox celebration is the November 1st, when people visits the cementery with flowers and candles.

Got my jack-o-lanterns to keep the evil spirits at bay (thank goodness for pumpkins, so much easier to carve than the traditional turnips) and an extra place set at the dinner table for any deceased relative/ancestor that wishes to visit on this night when the veil is at its thinnest. cool2

No its not and it needs to go away or be remodeled into something HOLY.. It teaches kids terrible things. the only holy thing about the day is the Pumpkins which should not be carved into the ugly. smiles are fine with the candle of light inside. Which can signify the lighting of the soul.

I plan on farting around in town long enough that hopefully I won't have any childrenz hit me up for candy. I don't know anyone in my apartment complex and the last time I had trick or treaters, they were yutes with no costumes and just had grocery sacks to collect candy. I'll pass on Helloween.
