Because the writers throw show shit out to prove what an ignorant dork Jesse was, he knows a little, but just enough to make him look like an idiot. It's an old writers trick and means nothing. Times change, don't worry about old TV shows. |

Really? Please indulge me. Outbreaks Chronology: Ebola Virus Disease [link to www.cdc.gov] From what I see all the locations are in North, Central or South Africa, none are in West Africa until 2014, unless I am missing something or you have some magic globe that the rest of us don't have... From what I can see, not a single death has taken place via Ebola in West Africa until 2014. Last Edited by TruthNow88 on 10/20/2014 11:33 PM "Fuck the American regime change policy... Pardon me... However, in terms of West or East, Ebola has been on the Western sidd of Africa. |

Don't know...=-p The virus was named after the Ebola River, which was near the first recorded outbreak....but it is also in central Africa.... Show: Breaking Bad | Season: 3 | Episode: 10 | Title: "Fly" | Air Date: May 23, 2010 Quoting: TruthNow88 [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] Jesse Pinkman: Dude you scared the shit out of me! When you say contamination, I mean, I'm thinking like an Ebola leak or something. Walter White: Ebola? Jesse Pinkman: Ya it's a disease on the Discovery Channel, where all your intestines just sort of slip right out of your butt. Walter White: Thanks you... I know what Ebola is... Now tell me what would a West African virus be doing in our lab huh? Correct me if I am wrong but haven't all the past Ebola outbreaks (1776-2013) originated from either North Africa, South Africa or Central Africa? Why would an episode of Breaking Bad from 2010 state that Ebola virus is a West African disease, when none of the outbreaks up to that point originated from West Africa (and the one that did, didn't happen until 2014, 4 years after the episode was filmed)? Today in 2014, it would make sense for someone to refer to Ebola as a West African diseases due to the current situation in that region, but I found it a little odd that in 2010 they would refer to Ebola as a West African virus since up to that time it really wasn't. Anyways just found in interesting so figured I would share. A mere mistake, just like you said Ebola is a South African disease when their has never been a case of Ebola in southern/South Africa |

At first, the patients arrived slowly — too slowly. In early June (2014), workers tracing the contacts of infected individuals could see that there were many more people who were potentially infected than there were in the hospital. But Ebola had never before come to West Africa, and people were spreading the disease without knowing it, simply by caring for the sick and burying the dead. Whole villages would be wiped out.
