Ebola Grand Challenge $$$ - USGOV Issues International Call for Great Ideas

The GLP community is filled with some very creative, intelligent and crticial thinking
individuals. Here is a chance to use those gifts to benefit, and potentially save,
millions of lives.

USAID (US Agency for International Development) calling on the global community to share
pioneering ideas that deliver practical and cost-effective innovations in a matter of months.
Regardless of background, experience or knowledge of Ebola, your bold thinking is necessary to
address this crisis, to improve delivery of care, and stem the spread of disease.

USAID is partnering with the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention and the United States Department of Defense to launch:

A) An open innovation platform to crowdsource and incubate innovative ideas to improve
delivery of care and stem the spread of disease, including improvements in PPE;

B) A challenge competition to fund and test innovations for PPE, infection treatment and
control; and

C) Partnerships for rapid testing and deploying the best solutions.

Awards range from $100,000 - $1,000,000 USD.

USAID and partners specifically seek solutions that address the two focus areas below.

1) STRENGTHEN HEALTHCARE CAPACITIES:

Approaches to enhance the protective equipment, care setting and tools used in the field to
empower and protect healthcare workers

2) CARE-SEEKING:

Approaches that ensure communities receive and respond to timely, accurate, and actionable
information about Ebola prevention and treatment
