What about medical opinions? Like, if you don't do this , that will happen...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 63808349

I would say that depends on the doctor, but not all medical opinions are informed opinions.

It is vitally important to your well-being, your confidence, and your emotional health that you do what is best for you and your life, not what others tell you is best for you. No one knows you better than you do. Take refuge in the fact that you are exactly who you are meant to be, and no one can take that away from you unless you let them. Improve yourself by focusing on your strengths and not dwelling on your weaknesses, choose hope rather than despair :-)

Re: Do Not Let The Opinion Of Others Control Your Life
I kinda don't want to, but I'm afraid people will be mad at me. Will they be mad at me if I don't? Will you be mad at me if I do? I really need some advice on how to go with this idea.
 Quoting: Faith Not Fear

This applies more to what you think of yourself, not really how you respond or react to others who criticize you. It would be self-defeating to respond to this type of criticism in a negative way, because then you are allowing them to compromise your values and principles - responding to negativity with more negativity. It is far more important what you feel about yourself within, how you handle criticism in your thoughts and emotions, and not allowing it to overtake your whole image of yourself. Try not to worry so much about what others think of you, because you are then capitulating to their opinion of who you should be rather than who you want to be and are.
 Quoting: Rising Son

Uh, I guess my post wasn't quite the obvious wink I though it would be.

The headline of this thread is probably the MOST important thing to understand about life on Earth, as a man.

The other top things to understand are:

*Study Permaculture.
*All governments are all bad, all of the time.
*Religion is a crutch for the mentally handicapped and spiritually crippled.
*Embrace death and escape your fear of it.
*Buy land and build a house with your own hands before you do anything ales.

Nobody can control you after you have done this. Nobody.

TELL ME ABOUT IT, just about everybody in my fam and freind category are classic judge- mental- ists, and one of em gets real feisty after a 1/5 of rot gut, he is a super guy when he,s sober, but it does take its toll on him , suppressing our true instincts can be phsically taxing for this type of individual. their need to dominate in one way or another has to be excorsized on a regular basis. i know i would make a good counselor , hell, thats all i do is bend and compensate to keep the peace. they are so touchy i could simply send them into a FRENZY , AND QUICKLY. but i dont anymore i just tolerate it and try to get along . PS. I KNOW IAM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM .

Re: Do Not Let The Opinion Of Others Control Your Life
I used to be so good at this - not caring what others' opinions are of me. The only thing that I have been struggling with lately is that of certain family members.

I know what to do and I must move on it. Not sure if I'm really in the right category of what bothers me or not. Specifically, it's the criticism of little stuff that I do or don't do. I guess that fits into your thread title...

For example, if I travel miles to go take care of a family member's several children for 5 days, then as soon as I walk back in my door (home), I get a call complaining that my little dog peed on the floor (not carpet and I cleaned it up of course, but some little someone must have tattled - lol).

I could stay resentful that someone is not grateful that I traveled to do this favor for free and is nitpicking, or I can write or call and tell them in a loving manner that they were out of order, which I did. Had I discussed that matter when I was called, no telling what I might have said. Heh.

I guess you could say that IS concern about what or how someone thinks of me (or my dog - lol), but for days it really bothered me and hurt my feelings.

I think the world is just changing right along with how the Bible tells us it will. And you know the part about the me, me, me stuff - that, too. Also, that we are to press on and not give up so we can reach the finish line. All of that, of course, is paraphrased, but I got it.

It's hard in these last days in this world has we have known it - no doubt about it. But in general, no I do not care about the opinion of others, only God's. It would be nice in a perfect world for all to feel wonderful about each other.

In general, this is how it has worked with me - 'ya either really like me, if I allow one to get close to me, or 'ya really, really don't because I am honest and straightforward but not as tough as I may sound sometimes.

Thanks for the thread and for allowing me to share on it.
Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world.

Heh. If you truly believe the two I highlighted, you have no idea how easy you are to manipulate. All anyone has to do is decide the way they want you to go and then design their stimulus so that you go all "nobody tells ME what to do" and run the other way, which is just the way they wanted you to run in the first place.

The dark side of self-help is that it promoted to led people to being mostly, unable to say to others "help me". It´s great to be independant, it´s dreadful to be absolutely independant, we were not made to be like that, YOU, ME, and the rest, are links of a chain.

If we disconnect from each other with the excuse of being supermens and superwomens, with the aid of mental mantras, self help of any kind, we are missing the point of what it is to be here, there is something we are doing wrong there, because it is the aim of the elite, to divide, and conquer.
 Quoting: SenadenGift

I agree, which is why it is so important for us to surround ourselves with positive people who care about us, not negative people who use us as targets for their projection. Not all criticism is bad, as long as it is constructive and given with love, not disdain.
 Quoting: Rising Son

No, as long as you take sides you experience the awful consecuences of self-division, self-denial.

This is it. No other way around.
