Sounds like AIDS/HIV hysteria in 80s when some medical personnel refused to treat HIV patients. Are you sure you want to be part of such travesty?

Of course I don't "want" to be part of any of this.
What would you have me do - show up to man a surgical dep't on my own while everyone else is some place where they feel safe?

Two of my supervisors basically said "Ha! Fuck that!" in a conversation I was part of. I didn't overhear it. I was in the conversation.

A CRNA literally said they'd be bugging out, another nurse said it's time to buy some land in the country (I didn't tell her it's too late for that..poor gal)

When it comes right down to it, Friend, nobody is obligated to die for another. Nobody is obligated to bring disease home to their children or other loved ones.

It is what it is.

I'm at work now.
The woman who relieved me for lunch said that the Dallas nurse's boyfriend has been confirmed positive. I haven't checked glp for that yet but will.

Anyway, a 2nd CRNA just said what everyone else is saying..."if anyone here comes down with it, sayonara!"

Thanks for the well-wishes..Y'all stay safe!

I don't mean to be a pain, but that would be a very big HIPAA violation. Are the nurses there that unaware or uncaring of the public scrutiny they are under right now to be breaking laws that could get them fired?
"God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787

Well, considering she read it on a national MSM site there was no HIPPA violation on this end.

In other news, the ER at a local facility shut down for an hour today due to a suspected case of Ebola.

Haven't had time to check for a link yet. Will post one later after work..
seems to be getting closer to our area for sure.

In an event where its on your hands, you're already toast. Relax. You'll be vigilant when you need to be.
That’s the thing about progress; all the word means is “continued movement in the same direction.” If the direction was a bad idea to start with, or if it’s passed the point at which it still made sense, continuing to trudge blindly onward into the gathering dark may not be the best idea in the world. Break out of that mental straitjacket, and the range of possible futures broadens out immeasurably.

Last night taught me something though.
I was driving down the road thinking about Ebola and unconsciously broke protocol twice, simply because I was not in a clinical setting.
It was a wake-up call for me.

Today at work I haven't touched an elevator button or door handle without gloves or a thick paper barrier that I disposed of immediately.

What was a travesty about it? Besides the depraved behaviour spreading it that. It's always easy being PC in hindsight.
