Well, here is a tidbit from someone who works with doctors at Presby.
I'm in Texas and yesterday my bestie called her nurse friend who works at a hospital 10 min away from Dallas Presby.

The highlight of the report back to me:

Presby ICU docs claim there was no possible way there was a "breach in protocol". That is what the CDC us making them tell the media to prevent mass hysteria. Since there really was no breach, means that it can be spread in a way beyond mere contact.

There was no breech. They were lies to and told to use the incorrect PPE. I suspect there will be more walk offs and the national guard and military will step in. Our nation will never be the same. This event will change what we know to things we've labeled conspiracy theories-things that will NEVER happen in America cause we are the land of the free. Soon freedom will be a thing of the past. Its so disheartening and sad.

I know the situations aren't really comparable, but this reminded me of my mom. She was an ICU nurse during a state of emergency in the 90s here in PA. It was just weather-related, but the roads were all closed to civilian traffic. She was not permitted to call off work. They sent the National Guard to our house to bring her to and from work with several others. If they would do that over a blizzard, I could definitely see them doing some sort of mandatory situation in this case. I know it's very different, but it shows they don't take no for an answer.

Ive been on this companies "call" list for over 10 years. They wouldnt post this on their website. They are scared and sent the email privately to people signed up with them to avoid this going viral. Im sure they dont know about GLP and didnt expect this to be broadcasted the way i've put it out there. If you doubt the validity call and tell them you are interested in working with Ebola patients in Texas. By all means investigate it. The email is valid and another nurse here received the same email, someone i dont even know!

At the very end of the press conference that was held Sunday morning at the Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas (where ebola patient Duncan died and a healthcare worker who attended him has also tested positive for ebola), the chief county medical officer messed up and leaked a HUGE and VERY TELLING FACT.

What this doctor inadvertently told the public was that an entire 24-bed former ICU area of the hospital had been cordoned off as it is the area in the hospital that has been designated for where only ebola patients will be cared for.

This obviously means that the medical experts in Dallas (and likely the CDC also) are anticipating there being future ebola patients in the Dallas area (multiple additional patients).

The statement referred to above (there's a 24-bed ICU ready for use by ebola patients only) happens right at the end of the press conference just before the doctor who leaked the information is hurried off the stage.

They want an outbreak, thats why they are handling this the way they are.

I can fail the nclex recertification test as many times as it takes to get what I feel entitled to

Things have to be worse than they are saying! You have to send out emails begging for help when we have only heard of one patient? How many people does it take to care for one person? After all, that is all we are supposed to have now that Duncan is dead!

Got a question for the medical professionals on here. If one gets Ebola and recovers, is that person immune from contracting it again? Also, has anyone heard anything further of that other dr that was supposedly cured and then was re-admitted to the hospital with respiratory illness and "pink eye"?

so those 70 people affected suddenly need nurses, and the nurses in quarantine need replacement nurses, and for all the ones who walked off the job, they need replacement nurses, so there's suddenly a huge vacuum of nurses in Dallas with the first little tiny incident. hmm

Makes me wish I kept my email account from work so I could post the email about "you can be mandated for up to 90 days to work anywhere in the state as a health care assistant in the advent of a declared emergency."

Half the reason I quit working for the state.

I read an article saying having previous exposure/recovery with ebola does NOT prevent you from acquiring it again, I will try to find the link.

Ok, I'm now watching Dr. Sanjay Gupta on CNN for The umpteenth time demonstrating how "easy it is to break protocol" while wearing the "protective gear" currently assigned to most hospitals. Here's the spin:

He douses himself with chocolate syrup ( to represent Ebola body fluids ) then, whilst removing the gear, shows the various spots on his body where the syrup has appeared. It still seems like the victim, Ms. Pham, is being blamed for incompetency. Wtf???

Could it not be possible that the gear is inadequate? That, rather than simply masks, our nurses should be given respirators? Isnt there a real possibility this thing could be airborne? Why even take that chance?

BTW I am an RN in Fort Worth. I helped develop our companies Ebola response yesterday.

When I got home, I asked myself "out of all the places and people and things to do in the world, how did I end up in the middle of Ebola developing policy on how to respond?"

Flu season is going to be interesting. How will ER's know who's Ebola and who's the flu when they present at the ER??
