I'm in Texas and yesterday my bestie called her nurse friend who works at a hospital 10 min away from Dallas Presby. The highlight of the report back to me: Presby ICU docs claim there was no possible way there was a "breach in protocol". That is what the CDC us making them tell the media to prevent mass hysteria. Since there really was no breach, means that it can be spread in a way beyond mere contact. There was no breech. They were lies to and told to use the incorrect PPE. I suspect there will be more walk offs and the national guard and military will step in. Our nation will never be the same. This event will change what we know to things we've labeled conspiracy theories-things that will NEVER happen in America cause we are the land of the free. Soon freedom will be a thing of the past. Its so disheartening and sad. (OP) User ID: 61035982 United States 10/14/2014 11:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm curious as to what would happen if places seeking RN's are unable to get as many as they need? Would volunteer's even be up for consideration? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 55915768 Right now they are seeking volunteers. If they cant get people to volunteer for the jobs i suspect if it gets bad enough that they could legally sequester licensed nurses and force them under some government regulation to work. I know the situations aren't really comparable, but this reminded me of my mom. She was an ICU nurse during a state of emergency in the 90s here in PA. It was just weather-related, but the roads were all closed to civilian traffic. She was not permitted to call off work. They sent the National Guard to our house to bring her to and from work with several others. If they would do that over a blizzard, I could definitely see them doing some sort of mandatory situation in this case. I know it's very different, but it shows they don't take no for an answer. ^^^^^this is EXACTLY what will happen! It will be as if medical professionals are "drafted" into caring for the sick! What a horrible experience for your family to go through! I fear acts like this will soon become common practice. Guns will be drawn to those that resist going willingly. Its downright scary stuff we are facing. Haha User ID: 22872141 United States 10/14/2014 12:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | so those 70 people affected suddenly need nurses, and the nurses in quarantine need replacement nurses, and for all the ones who walked off the job, they need replacement nurses, so there's suddenly a huge vacuum of nurses in Dallas with the first little tiny incident. hmm Quoting: Anonymous Coward 43683052 They are anticipating an influx of patients. Either that or they already have more than they can handle. At the very end of the press conference that was held Sunday morning at the Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas (where ebola patient Duncan died and a healthcare worker who attended him has also tested positive for ebola), the chief county medical officer messed up and leaked a HUGE and VERY TELLING FACT. What this doctor inadvertently told the public was that an entire 24-bed former ICU area of the hospital had been cordoned off as it is the area in the hospital that has been designated for where only ebola patients will be cared for. This obviously means that the medical experts in Dallas (and likely the CDC also) are anticipating there being future ebola patients in the Dallas area (multiple additional patients). Here's a link to the thread that has the Sunday morning press conference at the Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas embedded in it. The statement referred to above (there's a 24-bed ICU ready for use by ebola patients only) happens right at the end of the press conference just before the doctor who leaked the information is hurried off the stage. [link to www.godlikeproductions.com] How do you know it wasn't an INTENTIONAL "slip?" Maybe they are just revealing the NEXT PHASE OF THE HOAX! |

The nursing and medical staff need to be trained in extreme biohazard scenarios before stepping into these positions. Think about every kind of "outbreak" movie you've seen, and you'll know what is generally required. The labs that test for this stuff are Bio-Safety Level 4, for Pete's sake.
