Yeah, I know what you mean. I call it necessary dogma (or anecdotal dogma if you prefer). It doesn't even matter what the symbolic act is, only that is gives one belief in themselves to accomplish their desires.

How many ppl went through some cheesy ritual in their bedrooms as a teenager selling their soul to Satan and all it did is give them confidence in something outside themselves to validate their feelings of worthiness? It was just necessary dogma to trick themselves into believing they had a source of power outside themselves because they didn't believe they were good enough on their own.

Or am I getting too real?

lol really?!i take it youve done that?

But youre right. It is what it is. All of those reasons youve given could be correct and even change in hindsight. But theres always atleast 1 person behind it that knows what it does and uses it as that. rather than just going along or believing in it/gods.

What about the person who gets the "ritual" off the internet and does it themselves without ever telling anyone they did it?

And no I didn't but I use to go any cult meeting I could find just to be a tourists and test the necessary dogma theory.
I have participated in some of those dogmas. They treat it like smoking a joint in high school, you're a narc if you don't do it lol.

lol peer pressure is what drives the cattle. the ritual is the dog. the priest is the sheppert. we all know why shepperts keep sheep tho. lol they only use the dog to get them moving so they can eat and get big and strong befor they are sold off. also the sheppert can get rid of his dog in a second. but its his best friend. so he will stand by it.

i like the fact that you got to tourist cults. we dont have many of them here.

i dont get your questions about the ritual from the internet tho. i mean its obviously the same thing as what youve said about being young and looking in the mirror. and also those people probably just want to be part of something so why not a cult. and why not start getting some stuff to talk about. hence internet rituals. youve got to do something to be a part of something/the movement.

You said it only works because one other person knows how it really works. How would that work with someone doing it independently without anyone knowing?

Would it not work then or would they have to be the one themselves who knew how it really worked on some subconscious level?

Imagine an introvert thinking they were making a secret pact with some entity and planning on keeping it their secret from the world.

Could the necessary dogma still work?
