I enjoy your words. I don't think you killed the thread.
What you mention reminds of playing or hearing of other kids playing 'Bloody Mary'.
With so much of society believing in 'God', a manifestation or 'proof of' becomes very desirable around that age.
Quoting: Seer777 "Light as a feather, stiff as a board."  . The same with Christianity for that matter. Get saved and cleaned up their life. Got a raise because of it. God did it not you. Many ppl want that kind of relationship with their higher self. I often wonder if that is actually human nature or just such an old facet of world society that it has become almost indistinguishable from human nature. Exactly. I nearly mentioned that as well. Which I played. And WAS weird. Never removed our fingers though. Religion leads to an inherent scape-goatism. Is that a word? Is now. Pointing the finger away from Self, IOWs. To escape the idea that they are enough on their own without some sort of validation from an authority? I guess that is sort of like fear of success. More like their own sins are perpetrated upon them by say "Satan' instead of understanding that we all choose for ourselves the choices we make. And which way we move. And how we impact ourselves and our environment. Religion is also a means to an end. If properly conditioned, religious people will be begging for death. Which, is what we have now.
