I'm not really one to buy any of that. Not to say it hasn't happened. But I think much of what people believe regarding, to be far more fairytale than Truth.

Blood sacrifice? Christianity is based on it.

Then the sing and drink the blood and eat the body.

Bizarre.

Oh it's real. We know Jeffrey dahmer existed right? We know starving tribes devolve into eating other humans right?

The question is how prevalent is it in today's world and do ppl in positions of power really do it as a form of religion believing it empowers them.

you don't see in the spirit then.

Is that what you have concluded?

You know that most people when their foundational beliefs get pushed on, will automatically dismiss contradictory information? It is inherent.

The proverbial 'Mind Wall'.

Belief takes practice. And finding out ones beliefs were not 'The Truth' can be devastating mentally as dissonance is a difficult place to find oneself.

As what was 'once known' becomes foreign and with hazy concept.

Jeffery Dahmer was an anomaly among the general populous in that sense. That is what makes him 'stand out'.

Like I said, not to say it hasn't happened but that seeing from another vantage point of the foundation of Christianity. And all the blood sacrifice which has risen in its wake.

Bond, black mail, guilt leverage, desensitization....
There is numerous reasons they could do it. You pretty much own a MF'er if you manipulate them into going cannibal. That being the main one imo.

Of course this all speculation but given where we are discussing it makes sense to ponder it. Someone will inevitably propose the inverse and say it is a ghost story to scare ppl off and work as a kind of hazing.

That was my point. Religion is a tool. Used on all levels. The people that use it as a tool obviously know what it is and therefor dont believe in it as a religion but do believe (know) it empoweres them.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I call it necessary dogma (or anecdotal dogma if you prefer). It doesn't even matter what the symbolic act is, only that is gives one belief in themselves to accomplish their desires.

How many ppl went through some cheesy ritual in their bedrooms as a teenager selling their soul to Satan and all it did is give them confidence in something outside themselves to validate their feelings of worthiness? It was just necessary dogma to trick themselves into believing they had a source of power outside themselves because they didn't believe they were good enough on their own.

Or am I getting too real?

You said it only works because one other person knows how it really works. How would that work with someone doing it independently without anyone knowing?

Would it not work then or would they have to be the one themselves who knew how it really worked on some subconscious level?

Imagine an introvert thinking they were making a secret pact with some entity and planning on keeping it their secret from the world.

Could the necessary dogma still work?

oh nah i was talking about ritual abuse. where theres always a victim. or like the rituals of killing someone together to form a bond.

in what you discripe it could work in the sense of changing the persons beheavior because of new found thoughts/emotions/selfesteem.

Im unsure of the dogma concept so i dont want to claim it as that. but thats just because ive only heard of the term and never really read into it.

Oh ok. Thanks. That's an aspect of the NT thinking I have trouble with. Instead of taking personal responsibility for whatever it they feel guilty about it was the devil and a third party authority will validate this notion and forgive them. Which allows them to write off their past emotionally, indebting them to the deity that performed this service for them.

And the cries for death are just them trying to escape the reality that they never actually forgave themselves or took responsibility for their "sins"

Right?

Paradise=Vagina?

Is that the message?

Probably is for most men sadly ;)

I saw someone say once. That with the number of people in the world and the amount of sex we have, that the 'human orgasm' is constantly occurring. Most likely around the clock.

Huge amounts of 'sexual energy' constantly pumping out. No pun intended.

Say God could 'feel/see everything', would that place God in a constant orgasm state?

Why do some say, Oh God! when orgasming? Or at least think it...

hmm

Re: Thought of the Day...

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 63835684

oh nah i was talking about ritual abuse. where theres always a victim. or like the rituals of killing someone together to form a bond.

in what you discripe it could work in the sense of changing the persons beheavior because of new found thoughts/emotions/selfesteem.

Im unsure of the dogma concept so i dont want to claim it as that. but thats just because ive only heard of the term and never really read into it.

You were specifically talking about secret societies and ritual as a control mechanism. Ok, gotcha.

Dogma is just. [link to en.wikipedia.org]

Exactly. I nearly mentioned that as well. Which I played. And WAS weird.

Never removed our fingers though.

Religion leads to an inherent scape-goatism. Is that a word? Is now.

Pointing the finger away from Self, IOWs.

To escape the idea that they are enough on their own without some sort of validation from an authority?

I guess that is sort of like fear of success.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 63835684

More like their own sins are perpetrated upon them by say "Satan' instead of understanding that we all choose for ourselves the choices we make. And which way we move. And how we impact ourselves and our environment.

Religion is also a means to an end. If properly conditioned, religious people will be begging for death.

Which, is what we have now.

Oh ok.

Right?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 63835684

I think that is a good way to look at it. Like the sale of Indulgences for example.

Partially. Many are just miserable. And looking for an 'out' with a promise of paradise.

I think sinning against another can only be really reconciled by ask for forgiveness by the one wronged. To make amends or to pay restitution.

The, I'll just confess on my 'deathbed' being a further show of the 'scape-goating' that occurs. Sin and be forgiven!

Does that lessen or change the ripple that was created by the sinful action in the first place?

No it does not.

So, in that sense, is the Islamic paradise when men are concerned, little more than unending vagina?

Paradise=Vagina?

Thank you. :)

I saw a statistic once of the quantity of 'semen/sperm' that is released every day. It was shocking.

Now I'm confused. Not confused but.....yeah I'm not ashamed, I'm confused. This has always confused me. They know it's a lie, they have to. It's a pacifier for their emotions. That's no way to live your life.

Short of being completely self hypnotized it would always be in the back of your mind. I always feel like a kid again when I admit I don't understand this. Ppl treat like you are just supposed to get it and at along. It bugs me.

I think that is the source of our 'skeletons' in the closet.

We can become 'Christians', ask for forgiveness, but the skeleton remains. Just hanging there. Waited to be rectified.

And we all know the burden of guilt. It can drive people to the most self destructive of behaviors and delusions.

I think that was addressed quite well in Flatliners.
