In fact one is dead. We are able to think about the past and the future for a reason. you are to learn from your mistakes in the past and use the moment to better your future. Quoting: Manic626 56568693 Just living in the moment is reckless and naive. Ok, I made it for 60 years living in the moment. Obviously "reckless and naive" has worked out well for me. Sorry to hear about your friends. If you would like some advice from a person who has walked a lot of dusty miles on this planet, PM me... I have buried my grand parents, parents, in-laws, aunts, uncles, friends, and I hope I die before my children. Hence, enjoy the moment..it could be your last! |

If they could turn back time, they would have done things differently. They would have gone to college, not gotten a divorce, saved more money, been a better father/mother, lived more, loved more, traveled, not drank so much, been kinder, etc. Quoting: CowgirlK Some people live in the future, when they win the lottery, when they get a better job, when they graduate, when they meet their soul mate, when the economy gets better, when life settles down, when their kids are grown, when they retire, etc. Then there are those of us who live in the moment. We can’t change the past, we can’t control the future, all we have is right now. While most people are busy worrying about the past and the future they are forgetting to LIVE! There are NO guarantees’ in life. There are NO guarantees that you are not going to suffer a heart attack while sitting at your desk. There are no guarantees that you are not going to be killed in a car accident on your way home from work. There are no guarantees that you are not going to die dragging your tomato plants inside. There are no guarantees that a meteorite is not going to land on your head. There are no guarantees that you are not going to die by a number of crazy things that life throws into your path. So while you are worrying about things that you can not control, don’t forget to LIVE! Live each and every moment like it’s your last. Put down your phones and look up at the sun, moon, stars, and clouds. Look into people’s eyes, enjoy the innocence of children, smell the flowers and grass, enjoy the changing leaves, smile when you see the Canadian geese fly North or Monarch butterflies heading South, watch squirrels burring seeds for the winter, sing along to your favorite song, dance around your room like no one is watching, take a long soak in a bathtub, have an extra piece of chocolate, drink the entire bottle of wine, take a walk, hug your dog/cat, kiss your children, tell your spouse you appreciate them, help a stranger, take a deep breath and slow down. You only get one life so enjoy every breath you take. Live, Love, Laugh and enjoy every moment as if it is your last….because it could be! Sometimes in the morning if I'm feeling a bit low, I put on a song like Pharrell's "Happy" and dance around the room by myself. Then I take my coffee outside and get some sun into my world. This is going to sound crazy but this morning I watched a grasshopper on my patio scratch his antenna. I didn't even know that grasshoppers had antenna. I probably only spent a minute watching the grasshopper but that is what I mean by living in the moment. Take in every breath, every moment, your life will be so much richer if you do. |

The middle is all you really have, and you can actually control the middle. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 61783749 Honestly, do we really control anything? It's my experience that, no matter how in control we think we are, life will always throw you a curve ball. Enjoy each and every moment for what it is. Ah, but you do control it. Live is not something which is happening TO you. What you think is coming AT you is actually coming FROM you. Yes, there are freak occurrences which you cannot control — BUT (and this is the most important thing) you can control your reaction to them. Your reaction to what life "throws at you" is everything. If you have faith in anything beyond yourself, then you must understand that everything happens with purpose, yes? In that case, you must learn to see the purpose in everything - both good and bad. EVERYTHING serves a purpose. It is up to you to recognize it, learn from it, and react to it in a positive way. THAT is where all of the control lies in your hands. Every present moment instantly becomes "the past" with every new moment. You can control your present at all times, because you can control your reaction and response to every experience. |

There is one thing sure, you can not control everything, nor should you try. That say, be in the moment with a moments notice, God did not want you to stand in front of a truck that is in the future, just has not hit you yet. You have to be in the moment but aware that it could be your last because there are things that a happening, you have to be aware, past, present, and potential futures, just so you can duck or run. Does not mean you just see the bad things, there are always some good to be seen. Living in the moment does not always hold true, I believe in God and he planned for the future. You have to plan cause there maybe people that need that from you. I hope you did not mean you never look into the past, or plan for the future. You don't know you going to pass from this world in a moment, so pay attention to things around you, that way you may live a long life, as God wants you tp. Daughter out with my own way. |

I have buried my grand parents, parents, in-laws, aunts, uncles, friends, and I hope I die before my children. Hence, enjoy the moment..it could be your last! Living in the moment, for me, means seizing every opportunity to do good to those I come in contact with each Day. In the Lord's Prayer we're taught to ask for bread daily. This is not referring to a literal loaf of bread! The Lord is teaching us to ask for the God-given power to love others for that day! For doing good, from the love of God IS our spiritual bread! The Lord only gives us enough love to do good to the people we'll come in contact with each day. Which means, the following day, we need to ask Him again for more bread, that is, more of His love to be a blessing to others for another day! It becomes apparent why there's so much hate in the World! Why husbands cannot love their wives, why wives cannot love their husbands and why parents cannot love their own children! They incapable, because they're spiritually starving! Now we can understand why the Lord said to His Disciples: "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me..." [John 4:34] We are becoming images of what we eat, either vessels of love or vessels of hate! Thread: THE FIRE OF GOD'S LOVE |
