Stephen Harper assaults school teacher @ visit to Innavut, Canada.
Harper accused of shoving teacher:
Prime Minister Stephen Harper is being accused of giving a teacher a shove after she refused to shake his hand during last month's visit to Pond Inlet.
The alleged incident happened after a crowd of children and adults were ushered onto the tarmac at the airport to meet the prime minister upon his arrival Aug. 23 with embedded media sitting on a bus away from the scene.
Grade school teacher Tessa Lochhead says she doesn't know who pushed her, but people standing beside her told her it was the prime minister.
"Harper was the last person to exist the plane," Lochhead said.
As Harper headed down the line of people shaking hands, Lochhead said the crowd formed a circle around him. "He started shaking hands with everyone, so he was in the mididle and was coming right for me."
Lochhead said she had a burning question and despite her quiet nature, spoke loudly to Harper, a yell by her standards.
"I said,"What are you doing about missing and murdered aboriginal women?" Lochhead said. "He was by now right in front of me and responded, "The police are working on it."
"Then he had his hand out to shake my hand and I automatically put out my hand and I realized what was about to happen and pulled my hand away and said, "No thanks," and turned my head to the left to essentially dismiss him," she recalled.
With her gaze averted from the prime minister, she said she felt someone grab her upper right arm and shove her out of the way into the person behind her.
"I felt someone grab my arm and push me aside," she said. "It was only a few moments later after he had moved on through the crowd that Ihad people ask me, "Are you OK?" I said, "Yeah, why" They said, the prime minster just pushed you."
A witness in the community, who would only speak anonymously out of fear for her job, says she "absolutely" saw Harper grab Lochhead's arm and push out of the way after Lochhead refused to shake his hand.
""his hand went up to her arm and the look on his face was stone-cold. "How dare you," the source said of the prime minister. "She's not a person who would be out there causing a scene. She wasn't doing anything that would have required him to ever touch her."
Resident Shannon Mullen was standing behind Lochhead.
"She was pushed into me, bub to me it looked more like a brush away to avoid the question...."
If Lochhead was indeed pushed, could it have been someone other than Harper, perhaps someone else nearby?
"No," said Mulllen.
No media were nearby and guests were asked not to use recording devices during the event. An airport security camera that records the location where the alleged incident happened should have captured the scene. But Lochhead was told video from the day before the prime minister's first visit until after his second visit a week later was missing from the device.
------------
of course, the surveillance video is missing.
and at the event, cell phones and cameras were banned from the meet and greet.
