Volcanic Iceland: Earthquake with magnitude M 5,2 in Þorbjörn mountain (Fagradalsfjall mountain)!!!p1492

There have been 22 earthquakes of a magnitude greater than 3.0 since midnight last night, at the time of this writing, the largest being a 5.0 at 07:43 this morning near Fagradalsfjall. In fact, every 3+ earthquake recorded so far today has been near Fagradalsfjall.

As reported, Fagradalsfjall is currently considered to be the most likely location for a volcanic eruption, if it happens, based on the most recent measurements. As it stands now, there is a roughly 50% chance that an eruption will occur.

It hasn't started yet. Magma is currently being pumped into a dyke(tube) directly from the mantle. At the moment it's about 1km below surface. Just waiting on it to break through via fissure.

Wow this is amazing. You can clearly see how the dyke was moving NA towards Mount Keilir where it seems to have met "an obstacle" and since Magma goes for the easiest path, the dyke expanded in the opposite SW direction in which it is still expanding.

Only has some 3km to go until it reaches the ocean and the possibility of an explosive eruption.

However, experts do not expect a violent, explosive eruption but instead "fairly harmless lava eruptions".

Gas emissions are a concern, however, in particular sulphur dioxide.
