Early work of Arnold Schoenberg. Mainly influenced by Brahms, with perhaps some Dvorak. Plenty of techniques he gleaned from Wagner (harmonically) and Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven (formally).

I think he finally went atonal to get all of those voices out of his head...
