Family left for U.S. on the 20th . From other reading in the blog I gather the wedding was for Amber's side of the family, So there probably was not travel to Indiana. Was just reading a recent CNN article and came across this. What caught my eye was the date - the 20th - the same day that Brantly's family headed home. Then I wondered if Brantly had met with Sawyer before he headed to the airport. They must have known each other. One American, 40-year-old Patrick Sawyer, died in a Nigerian hospital earlier this month -- having come from Liberia. He was in a plane to Lagos, when he became violently ill. He was planning to go back home to Minnesota to celebrate his daughters' birthdays, but the disease took his life before he could. The Nigerian government said Thursday it has located 10 more people who had contact with Sawyer, the first American who died in the Ebola outbreak. Meanwhile, none of the 67 people under surveillance and the two people in quarantine have shown symptoms of the disease, Nigerian Minister of Information Labaran Maku said. A naturalized American citizen who worked in Liberia, Sawyer flew to Nigeria intending to attend a conference. After exhibiting symptoms upon arrival July 20, he was hospitalized and died on July 25. [link to www.cnn.com] I also found this comment odd - In a statement released Thursday, Amber Brantly said she and her children "are physically fine." "We had left Liberia prior to Kent's exposure to the virus," she said. "I am always anxiously awaiting any news from Liberia regarding Kent's condition." How does she know? Incubation is from 2 to 21 days before symptoms. Unless she does know EXACTLY how he contracted it... “If we are peaceful, if we are happy, we can smile and blossom like a flower, and everyone in our family, our entire society, will benefit from our peace.” Thich Nhat Hanh, Being Peace "But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you." - Job 12:7,8 "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." - Hunter S. Anonymous Coward User ID: 26165384 United States 08/04/2014 11:40 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A piece of the timeline we were looking for: [link to www.cnn.com] On July 22, Dr. Kent Brantly woke up feeling feverish. Fearing the worst, Brantly immediately isolated himself. Nancy Writebol's symptoms started three days later. A rapid field blood test confirmed the infection in both of them after they had become ill with fever, vomiting and diarrhea. NOTE: Brantly's wife and children left on July 20th. It has been said that one can be contagious for days before any symptoms appear. Wife and children ahould have about 10 more days before they are declared free of illness. Did she travel to Atlanta to see her husband? And this: from link above. It's believed both Brantly and Writebol, who worked with the aid organization Samaritan's Purse, contracted Ebola from another health care worker at their hospital in Liberia, although the official Centers for Disease Control and Prevention case investigation has yet to be released.. apparently, CDC must have important information regarding how they may have contracted the ebola virus. This would be very important. |

He could have been on the front porch, thinking he was isolated from the general public. I just thought this information, as reported by the link, was intersting for a few reasons. But, just because it is reported, doesn't mean it is accurate. Still a big question. ? What about the last sentence, indicating the CDC has a report with some conclusion as to possible way he was infected. That could be very important. |

This would be very important. I agree. I think they've "doctored" the timeline here (pardon my bad pun.... According to the blog (put out by MEL'S family, Mel being a FIRST PARTY WITNESS!!), he didn't feel well on Wed. the 23rd, (thought it was Malaria) but didn't isolate himself until Sat, the 26TH!! If you take CNN's timeline - waking up feeling sick on the 22nd, then that puts him that much closer to possibly infecting his wife and kids on the 20th..... Either way, too close for comfort, given all the unknowns in this strain of Ebola. Last Edited by ThinkOutsideTheBox on 08/04/2014 09:20 PM ThinkOutsideTheBox |
